The New York Lottery announced on Sunday that one, third-prize winning Powerball Powerplay ticket was sold for the February 22 Powerball drawing. WNYT reports they say the $100,000 winning ticket was sold at the Hannaford at 43 Round Lake Road in Ballston Lake.

Report: Saratoga Could Host Belmont Stakes In 2026

Although NYRA has floated the possibility of bringing the Belmont Stakes back to its home track of Belmont next year, it’s reasonable to believe that Saratoga will host the third leg of racing’s Triple Crown for a third year in a row in 2026. The Daily Gazette reports that’s because, while the four new racing surfaces at Belmont will be operational, and in fact should be open for training at various points this year, the grandstand will still be only partially complete in June of 2026, when the Belmont Stakes traditionally is held.

Death Of 3 Year Old In Corinth Under Investigation

The death of a 3-year-old in the village of Corinth is currently under investigation, the Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office announced Thursday night. The Daily Gazette reports sheriff’s deputies responded at 8:36 p.m. to Main Street in the village for reports of a child having difficulty breathing. No further details have been released.

Big Time Rush Making Summer Return To SPAC

SPAC will be hosting a performance this summer with pop group Big Time Rush. The show is scheduled for August 3 at 7 p.m. The band has released four studio records since starring in their own Nickelodeon sitcom in 2009. The group returns to the Capital Region after performing at SPAC in 2023.

Two Year Prison Term For Saratoga Burglar

A Saratoga County judge sentenced a man to two years in prison for third-degree burglary. The Saratoga County District Attorney’s Office said Stephen J. Parker, 46, pleaded guilty to the charge on Wednesday. WTEN reports
Parker admitted to breaking into a Stewart’s Shop on Broadway and Circular Street around 1:30 a.m. on January 28, 2024 by smasking the store’s front window.

Glens Falls Hospital ER To Get Upgrade

The emergency room at Glens Falls Hospital hasn’t been upgraded in thirty years. That’s about to change as it is expanding around 7,500 square feet. WTEN reports it will also receive $15 million to modernize the Sheridan Family Emergency Center. The money will come as a grant from New York State.

WNYT reports Golub is charged with official misconduct – accused of having a city employee deliver drain cleaner to his home. Golub on Tuesday rejected an offer from the district attorney that would have him plead to a lesser charge of disorderly conduct. Golub said he would rather go to trial than plead guilty to something he didn’t do.
