LiveNation Holding SPAC Job Fair

Live Nation Entertainment is hosting a job fair at Saratoga Performing Arts Center on March 16 and 17 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Those interested can apply online. WTEN reports the positions available are venue sustainability, security guard, cleaning crew supervisor, and cleaning crew. The job fair will include on-the-spot interviews.

STR Crackdown Proposal Draws Opposition

Saratoga Springs proposes a crackdown on property owners who lease on a short-term basis. On Monday, those opposed to the regulations held a press conference and said their rentals are often used by people priced out of hotels. WTEN reports the Saratoga Springs Rental Rights Alliance has called for the city to reconsider its stance on short-term rentals, including reversal of a $1,000 application fee.

‘Tree Toga’ Set For April 27th

Sustainable Saratoga is planning its 10th annual tree planting event. “Tree Toga’ will take place on April 27 – the Saturday after Arbor Day, reports WNYT. Volunteers will plant 35 shade trees this year. That would bring the total to over 400 since they started.

Report On Saratoga Schools Athletics Expected In Next Two Weeks

The report investigating allegations of an abusive culture in Saratoga Springs athletics is set to be finalized sometime within the next two weeks. WNYT reports the district hired the Harris Beach law firm to investigate claims from a group of former athletes and parents who said that coaches had forced employees to push through pain and demeaned them. After it’s received by the district, the report will be released to the public.

Saratoga County Restaurant Week Starts Wednesday

The annual Saratoga County Restaurant Week will run Wednesday, March 6 through Thursday, March 14. Saratoga Today reports dozens of Saratoga County restaurants will participate in the event and will offer a three–course meal menu for $25, $35 or $45 (plus tax and tip). Select restaurants will also offer $15 lunch specials.
This year’s event will include a gift card sweepstakes through which multiple lucky winners will receive prize packages of $100 gift cards to restaurants throughout Saratoga County.

Tang Announces March Events

The Frances Young Tang Teaching Museum and Art Gallery at Skidmore College recently announced its March programming.
It starts off Tuesday at 6pm with Whole Grain: The Passion of Remembrance (1986). In conjunction with the exhibition “Isaac Julien: Lessons of the Hour.” March 10th and 17th- Tang Guide Tour with Annabel Gould class of 2026.

Body Found Near Troy Cemetery

Troy Police Detectives are investigating the death of a female whose body has been found in a wooded area near Oakwood Cemetery. WRGB reports around 6:15 p.m. Sunday, a person walking in a wooded area near Oakwood Cemetery observed what they believed was a body. The individual contacted 911 and Troy Police Patrol Officers responded to the area. The body of a female was located deep in the wooded area west of the Oakwood Cemetery entrance.

Local Little League Hit Hard By Fence Company Bankruptcy

Little league baseball players in Saratoga County are facing some field issues after a company they paid to do renovations declared bankruptcy. WTEN reports Mechanichville-Stillwater Little League Baseball paid 30 year old James Butle of Scotia-based “Trust-a-Fence” a $5,700 down payment, but the work never happened.
Two months after giving the down payment, Butler’s attorney served the league with a Chapter 13 bankruptcy notice.

Report: Overdoses In Saratoga County Becoming A Challenge To Keep Up With

A captain with the Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office – whose job is to track drug usage – says he can’t keep up the overwhelming number of overdoses. Captain Dan Morley tells WNYT opioids cause the most overdoses in Saratoga County, followed by heroin, fentanyl, and cocaine. There were 727 overdoses that hit Saratoga County last year. That averages out to almost two overdoses a day. Thirty-nine of them were deadly.
