Summer Parking Fees For Saratoga

The Saratoga Springs Department of Public Works released its final proposal for its seasonal paid parking program, which will run from Memorial Day to Labor Day. Under the program, visitors will need to pay $2 an hour to park in the city’s garages and surface lots. WRGB reports residents and downtown business employers can obtain free parking permits to park in garages and surface lots.

Two Arrested In Saratoga County Storage Facility Thefts

The Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office arrested Michael DeMartino Jr., 40, of Stillwater, and Kristin Frisch, 41, of Gloversville, for allegedly stealing property. WTEN reports Police say they responded to the Extra Space Storage in Clifton Park on March 15 at 3:06 p.m. after a report of a suspicious vehicle. After an investigation, police report that DeMartino Jr. and Frisch allegedly made unlawful entry into the storage facility and stole property from storage units.

Fallen Military Hero Buried At Saratoga National Cemetery

A fallen military hero is now buried at Saratoga National Cemetery. The body of John Grassia III, the New York National Guard serviceman who died in a helicopter crash on the U.S.-Mexico border on March 8, was taken to Saratoga National Cemetery on Tuesday, following his funeral. The burial ceremony took place in the back of Saratoga National Cemetery.

Boyfriend Of Kaylin Gillis Sues Over Shooting

The boyfriend of the woman shot and killed by Kevin Monahan in his Washington County driveway is suing over emotional distress. WNYT reports Blake Walsh has filed a lawsuit in state Supreme Court of Washington County against Monahan and his wife Jinx. Walsh was driving one of the vehicles that had gotten lost and turned around in Monahan’s driveway in Hebron on April 15. Walsh’s girlfriend, Kaylin Gillis, was riding in the passenger seat.

Saratoga Man Facing Counts After Execution Of Search Warrant

The Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office arrested 25 year old Tamaryn Bennett of Saratoga Springs, on Thursday following the execution of a search warrant. WTEN reports he’s now facing two counts of second-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, six counts of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, one count of criminal manufacture of an undetectable firearm and 11 counts of third-degree criminal possession of a weapon.

Healthy Saratoga Weekend In April

Discover Saratoga announced that it is hosting Healthy Saratoga Weekend from April 19 to April 21. It will be held in conjunction with the Mind Body Soul Market and Expo on April 20 and April 21st. WTEN reports both events are being held at the Saratoga Springs City Center.

The Saratoga County Chamber of Commerce is hosting a job fair next month, reports WNYT.
The springtime Southern Saratoga County Business Showcase & Job Fair will take place on April 11 at the Hilton Garden Inn at Clifton Park Center. It is open to the public and there is no need to register in advance.

Ex-Albany Med Employee Sentenced In Ring Theft Incident

A former Albany Medical Center worker who admitted to stealing a ring from a sleeping patient was sentenced on Monday to six months in jail. WNYT reports 36 year old Caitlin Mullaney of Slingerlands, had pleaded guilty in January to a felony count of fourth-degree grand larceny. She stole the ring from the finger of a 75-year-old patient while she was sleeping on a stretcher in the emergency room.

National Grid Reduces Power Outages In Saratoga County

After Saturday’s early spring storm, National Grid has been working to restore power to tens of thousands of customers in eastern New York. Saratoga County saw a huge drop Sunday in the number of people without power. More than three thousand were in the dark Sunday afternoon, and National Grid reports on its power outage map that the number is now down to 18 as of Monday morning.

Saratoga 4H Robotics Team Fundraises For Houston Trip

Next month, the Robovines from the Saratoga 4H Center will be heading to the FIRST Championships, a prestigious world championship competition in Houston, TX. WRGB reports the Robovines are ten students from 8th to 12th grade from all over Saratoga County. They’ve been working on their robot’s design and execution since September. The team is trying to raise $35,000 for their trip.
