The Hoosick Falls village expects $3 million after joining a national class action settlement connected to PFAS manufacturers 3M and DuPont. The settlement differs from legal matters and talks regarding Honeywell International and Saint-Gobain Performance Plastics. WTEN reports Mayor Rob Allen said the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation and the EPA found both manufacturers responsible for PFOA contamination.
Five Arrested In Saratoga County Drug Probe
The Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office made five arrests on Monday in connection to a drug investigation. The arrests took place on Arapaho Path in Saratoga Springs and on Rowland Street in the town of Milton. Under arrest are 30 year old Jesse Spencer, 25 year old Harold Kuchler and 37 year old Stephanie Fitzgerald, all of Saratoga. Also 51 year old Jason Horn and 40 year old Keella Weaver, both of Milton.
Man Facing Drunk Driving Charges In Greenfield Crash
A Middle Grove resident was charged with driving while intoxicated following a rollover crash earlier this month.
State Police responded to Lake Desolation Road in Greenfield just after 7:45 p.m. on Aug. 5. The driver, 42-year-old Clinton H. Waddell, was not injured, but registered a blood alcohol content of .14%. Waddell was released on appearance tickets and is due in Greenfield Town Court on Aug. 21.
Clifton Park Man Cops Plea In Child Sex Abuse Case
A Clifton Park man has admitted to sexually abusing children. According to WNYT, 45 year old Luke Margison was arrested in May 2023 after police said an investigation determined he abused multiple victims in Clifton Park over numerous years. He pleaded guilty in Saratoga County Court last week and will be sentenced in October.
John Hendrickson, Husband Of Mary Lou Whitney, Dies
Marylou Whitney’s longtime husband John Hendrickson has died, reports WNYT. The couple quietly got married in October 1997. Hendrickson was 32 at that time and she was 71. The two ran Whitney Industries for a time. There was no word on a cause of death or information about funeral services.

Saratoga Escape Lodges & RV Resort has upgraded its property. WNYT reports the owners of the property in Greenfield recently revamped the resort’s pool area and added a new playground as well as pickleball and basketball facilities.
In addition to RV and tent sites, Saratoga Escape offers cabin camping and luxury glamping. The resort also offers activities like bingo, live bands and food trucks.
Shen Superintendent Discusses Electric School Bus Implementation
With only two years until the state’s 2027 deadline for schools to begin purchasing only electrified buses, school administrators and industry leaders have told state officials there are still significant challenges to the rollout of bus-fleet electrification. The Daily Gazette reports Shenendehowa Central School District Superintendent L. Oliver Robinson made it clear recently: if the rollout is bumpy and he has to choose how he will get students to school, he will transport them on diesel buses.
Update On Saratoga DPW Commissioner Interviews
Saratoga Springs may now interview candidates for interim Public Works Commissioner during a special city meeting as it still figures out whether a special election can be held to fill the seat following Jason Golub’s resignation. The Daily Gazette reports Mayor John Safford said he is in favor of holding the special meeting to interview what could be six people seeking to fill the vacancy left by Golub, whose last day as commissioner was Friday.

Thursday storm did devastating damage to Malta and surrouonding areas
People in Malta and nearby areas are busy cleaning up from violent storms that came through on Thursday. The storms affected only a small part of the Capital Region, while other areas barely saw any rain at all. A large pine tree damaged the roof of a house on Sand Spurrey Road that home is now unlivable. No injuries were reported.
