Saratoga Springs is exploring building a new police station to replace its current home in the basement of City Hall, headquarters for nearly 150 years. Said city Public Safety Commissioner Tim Coll “it’s clear that we need to plan for a new police station, and that’s what the Capital Budget is for” The city has two possible locations, one behind City Hall where the city employees park or the old Senior Center.
Man sentenced after pleading guilty to second degree murder of girlfriend
The Saratoga Springs man who admitted to killing his ex-girlfriend was sentenced on Thursday to 23 years to life in prison. Sebastian Mabb, 31, pleaded guilty in Saratoga County Court in June to second-degree murder in the death of Brianna Craig, 25, in February at her Saratoga Springs home. Craig had an order of protection barring Mabb from contacting her because of a history of domestic violence.
Virginia man arrested for planning bank robbery
Brian Tierney, 31, of Lynchburg, Virginia was sentenced on Thursday for conspiring to commit a bank robbery. According to the US Department of Justice, Tierney was sentenced to four years and nine months in prison. As part of his guilty plea, Tierney admitted to planning an armed robbery at a bank in Johnstown with two conspirators- Luke Kenna and Michael Brown, Jr. All men pleaded guilty to the charges against them.

Two Year Sentence For Malta Man In Choking Incident
A Malta man was sentenced to 2 years in jail Thursday for choking a person. According to WNYT, 35 year old
Kevin J. Decelle was arrested last November after a domestic incident in the town of Halfmoon. Decelle struck the victim multiple times, obstructed their breathing and sexually assaulted them. Decelle pleaded guilty in May to second-degree strangulation.
Saratoga Man Draws 23 Years To Life In Ex-Girlfriend’s Slaying

NYRA Considering July 4th Racing At Saratoga
Local business owners are excited about the potential economic boost that could come if the New York Racing Association (NYRA) decides to extend horse racing at the Saratoga Race Course to include the July Fourth weekend in 2025. WTEN reports NYRA is currently considering moving the conclusion of the Belmont at the Big A Spring Meet from Aqueduct Racetrack to Saratoga Race Course in 2025.
Lasher Road Closure For Bridge Replacement
The Saratoga County Department of Public Works announced the upcoming closure of a portion of Lasher Road where it crosses the Mourning Kill. The road is expected to be closed from September 5 through December 11. WTEN reports the closure will be in place while crews conduct a bridge replacement.
