Cell Phone Policy For Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake High School

Students at Burnt Hills- Ballston Lake high school will be required to place their cell phones in a designated area of the classroom for the upcoming school year. This new policy is in effort to minimize distractions inside the classroom.
The policy will require students to place their phones in the racks at the beginning of each 80-minute classroom block and they will not be allowed to take them until class is over.

Milton Man To Stand Trial On Infant Assault Charges

A Milton man accused of violently assaulting a 3-month-old infant is set to stand trial in October. WNYT reports 21 year old
Jacob Krall is charged with second-degree assault and endangering the welfare of a child in the March 21, 2023 incident.
The trial is set to begin Oct. 15 in Saratoga County Court.

Track Closed Friday Due To Rain

The 10-race card for Friday, Aug. 9 has been canceled at Saratoga Race Course due to heavy rainfall and high winds expected to hit the area, reports WNYT. The region is set to be hit with the remnants from Tropical Storm Debby. Friday’s featured $125,000 Evan Shipman and $125,000 Union Avenue will be rescheduled. The track will be closed to the public and breakfast and track tours will not be offered.

Swimmers’ Itch A Concern On Saratoga Lake

Concern over cases of swimmers’ itch in Saratoga Lake. Some resident say each time they go in the water, they emerge covered in rashes, reports the Daily Gazette. Swimmer’s itch is a rash that occurs when tiny parasites burrow into someone’s skin while swimming or wading in freshwater lakes and ponds but can happen in saltwater, too. Symptoms include an itchy rash that looks like pimples or blisters.

Saratoga Looking To Drive Fake Rideshare Operators Out Of Town

Saratoga Springs is cracking down on phony rideshare drivers. WNYT reports more cameras, more law enforcement, and new signs are being implemented to hopefully drive the the fakes out of twon, including signage that reads, “This area is under surveillance. If you’re caught with doing unregulated taxi service, you will be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.” Authorities ran a detail on Frank Sullivan Place and outside Siro’s. Two unlicensed drivers were arrested.

Pair Charged After Schuylerville Break In

Two people are facing charges in connection with a Schuylerville burglary. Police went to a disturbance call on Church Street in Schuylerville. Edward J. Fish, 42, and Colleen M. Stewart, 38, of Malta, allegedly unlawfully entered a Schuylerville residence, reports WNYT. They were each charged with burglary and petit larceny.

Two Facing Drug Counts After Moreau Burglary Call

Two people are facing drug charges after police responded to a burglary call in Moreau. WNYT reports police went to Lamplighter Acres on Aug. 1st and say 42 year old Steven M. Fitzgerald of Lake Luzerne, and 51 year old Melanie L. Chaney, were allegedly found with cocaine and other drugs. Both were charged with two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance and criminal use of drug paraphernalia.

Arrest Warrant Issued For Lola Saratoga Burglary Suspect

Police have issued an arrest warrant for a suspect in December’s burglary of Lola Saratoga. According to WNYT, 34 year old
Toron M. Melton is accused of taking luxury handbags from the store on Broadway on Dec. 12th. A warrant has been issued for Melton’s arrest. He is facing charges of burglary and grand larceny.
