New Restaurant To Open On Phila Street

The owners of the Milton Tavern on Geyser Road in Milton are opening up a new restaurant in downtown Saratoga Springs. Fillies on Phila will be located in the former Nashville of Saratoga space at 39 Phila Street. WTEN reports Milton Tavern owners say they completely remodeled the former Nashville space and they’ll be remodeling the patio next year.

Thruway Authority Warns Of EZ Pass Scam

The Thruway Authority is warning drivers of a scam that involves fake text messages telling people they have unpaid tolls. The text asks for a response to the message as well as personal information. WTEN reports the Thruway Authority said E-ZPass or Tolls by Mail does not send a text or email requesting personal information.

The Lumineers Coming To SPAC

SPAC is the first date of The Lumineers North American Tour. The show is happening July 3rd in Saratoga with opening act, Hippo Campus. The band has been together for 20 years, and they are best known for their hit song “Ho Hey,” as well as several Grammy nominations.

Tickets for the Belmont Stakes Racing Festival at the historic Saratoga Race Course will be available to the public starting at 10 AM EST on February 13. Man Convicted In Deadly Lake George Boat Crash Out Of Prison

The man convicted of killing an 8-year-old girl with his boat on Lake George is no longer in prison. WTEN reports Alex West was under the influence in 2016 when the boat he was operating struck another boat on the lake and killed Charlotte McCue. West was found guilty of several charges in May 2017, including manslaughter, assault, and leaving the scene of an accident.

Second Arrest Made In Clifton Park Day Care Alleged Assault

A second person has been arrested in connection with the alleged assault of a child at a Clifton Park day care center. State Police said Tia M. Sauvie, 33, of Johnsonville, witnessed an employee hitting a toddler at SmartEarly on Jan. 21. Suavie did not intervene or call for medical help, reports WNYT.

Glens Falls Common Council Votes To Let Firefighter Retire Early

The Glens Falls common council voted in favor of letting Fire Lt. Doug Holl retire early with full benefits. The decision was made on Tuesday night. WNYT reports Holl was diagnosed with Early-Onset Alzheimer’s Disease. He was a firefighter for over 17 years but needed 20 years of service to receive full pension.
His fellow firefighters donated their sick time and vacation hours to get him to that finish line.

Glens Falls Awarded Housing Grant

Glens Falls has just been awarded a housing grant from the state from its “Access To Home” funding program.
According to WNYT, the city applied for the funding to provide up to nine low- and moderate-income residents, elderly, or with disabilities, some financial assistance to make their homes more accessible.
