Head Of CDTA Announces Plans To Retire

Carm Basile, the CEO of the Capital District Transportation Authority (CDTA), announced on Wednesday that he will retire at the end of the year. Basile has held the position for the last 15 years. WTEN reports during his time as CEO, he is credited with expanding public transportation services, increasing ridership, strengthening branding, and leading the CDTA through the challenges brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Saratoga Springs Summer Concert Series

The Saratoga Springs Summer Concert Series is returning to Congress Park this season. The concerts are family friendly and free, reports WNYT, and will take place Sundays in July, and Tuesdays in August. Patrons are encouraged to bring blankets and chairs.

Saratoga Man Draws Six Month Sentence In Child Sex Abuse Case

A Saratoga Springs man was sentenced on Wednesday to 6 months in jail for child sexual abuse. According to WNYT, 56 year old Matthew Breen was arrested last May after police said he inappropriately touched a child younger than 11 years old.
Breen pleaded guilty in April. He also must serve 5 years of probation.

HVCC Board Fires President

Hudson Valley Community College’s Board of Trustees voted to terminate a contract with Dr. Roger Ramsammy Tuesday night. WRGB reports Dr. Ramsammy has served as president of Hudson Valley since July 2018. He was placed on administrative leave at a special meeting on May 15 following a Human Resources complaint filed against him.

Elderly Nutrition Farmers Market Coupons

The Saratoga County Department of Aging and Youth Services has begun distributing Elderly Nutrition Farmers Market Coupons for the summer. WTEN reports coupons can be picked up from several locations, including the Department of Aging and Youth Services at 152 West High St. in Ballston Spa, on weekdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Stillwater Man Pleads Guilty To DWI Charges

A Stillwater man has admitted to driving while intoxicated and crashing with a child under 15 inside. WNYT reports 35 year old
Theodore B. Pamper was arrested March 2 after State Police responded to a report of a car that crashed into a utility pole on Cold Spring Road. He is due to be sentenced on Aug. 12.

Saratoga’s All-American Celebration Is Back

Saratoga’s All-American Celebration is back this July 4th in downtown Saratoga Springs.
The day will include the annual Firecracker4 Road Race, the Saratoga-Wilton Elks’ 55th annual Flag Day parade, a free family-friendly concert featuring Tops of Trees and a spectacular fireworks display. All events are open to the public.

Two Businesses Suffer Minor Damages In Fire

Two small businesses experienced electrical damage due to a fire on Broadway in Saratoga Springs. The Daily Gazette reports The blaze at 368 Broadway was small and no injuries were reported Impressions will temporarily shift operations to sister-store The Dark Horse Mercantile. Magic Moon is also without power and expects to be closed for “a couple of weeks.”
