Saratoga Hospital is proposing to build a Center for Successful Aging on Myrtle Street, not far from its main building.
According to the Daily Gazette, the plan calls for demolishing a 10,200-square-foot medical building on the west side of Myrtle Street to construct the 60,000-square-foot medical building, according to project documents turned into the city Planning Department.
Man Accused Of Planting Hidden Camera In Saratoga County Home
A man repeatedly broke into a Saratoga County home and set up a hidden camera inside. 57 year old Todd St. Louis of Providence went into a home many times without permission to allegedly place the camera and then check the recording, reports WNYT. He’s charged with burglary and unlawful surveillance, and was sent to the Saratoga County Jail in lieu of bail.
Saratoga DPW Commissioner Resigning
Saratoga Springs Department of Public Works Commissioner Jason Golub is resigning his position to take a job with the New York State Department of Corrections. WNYT reports Golub has been named general counsel and deputy commissioner of the Department of Corrections. He will stay with the city until August 19, when he starts in his new role with the state.
Saratoga Springs Police Looking For Recruits
The Saratoga Springs Police Department is looking for new recruits to join the department. WRGB reports The deadline to apply for the civil service exam is Sept. 4. The starting salary for a new officer is $59,000. Police Chief Tyler McIntosh says they have nine new recruits who graduated from the academy and are starting their in-service training.
Cohoes Man Cuffed In Clifton Park Assault
The Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Cohoes man on Sunday for assaulting a man at Stewarts Shops on Crescent Road. WTEN reports 59 year oldTodd Zehnter was charged with second-degree assault.
Deputies said Zehnter is accused of hitting another person in the eye with a handheld spotlight during a fight. Zehnter was issued an appearance ticket for Clifton Park Town Court on a later date and released.
Clifton Park Girl’s ‘Make A Wish’ Trip To Disney
A little girl from Clifton Park, who has gone through a lot in her 12 years got her wish to go to Disney World. Maya Charles-Rivera and her family left from Albany for Orlando Sunday, reports WNYT. She had a life-saving kidney transplant about a year and a half ago. She wanted to meet Minnie and Mickey Mouse, and Make-A-Wish made it happen.
Mechanicville Man Facing DWI Charges
The Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office arrested Edward J. Young, 72, of Mechanicville on Thursday and charged with DWI, as well as other felonies. WNYT reports Young is accused of operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated and at a time when his blood-alcohol-count (BAC) was 0.08% or greater. The Sheriff’s Office says the charges were upgraded to class D felonies due to two prior convictions within the last ten years.
Saratoga Race Course Summer Meet Officially Underway
Thousands turned out for Opening Day for the 2024 Summer Meet at the Saratoga Race Course. Gates officially opened at 11 a.m. and First Post was at 1:10 p.m. At 7 a.m. on Thursday, racing fans came in through the gates and then it was the mad dash for picnic tables. Some racing fans lined up the night before to secure the spot they wanted.
Portion of Riverview Road in Clifton Park Closed Friday
A portion of Riverview Road in Clifton Park will be closed on Friday. Crews will be working to replace a culvert pipe and paving, reports WNYT. The closure is between Crescent Road (Vischer Ferry Center) and Sugar Hill Road. Work will occur between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. Drivers are advised to see alternate routes.
Big Bend Preserve at Moreau Lake State Park Now Open
The Big Bend Preserve at Moreau Lake State Park is now open for people to visit. WNYT reports the preserve adds 860 acres to the park, which is about the size of Central Park. It now makes it one of the 10 largest parks in the state system and will provide recreational activities for visitors and valuable habitats for native species.
