Twenty-one people have been arrested in a major takedown of cocaine and fentanyl trafficking in the Capital Region. WNYT reports the ring brought drugs from Brooklyn and distributed them to Rensselaer, Albany, Saratoga, Warren, and Washington counties, the Attorney General’s Office announced Tuesday. Investigators seized more than 4.5 kilograms with a street value of around $450,000.
Bolton Landing Man Facing Drug Charges
A Bolton Landing man was arrested on several drug charges after an early morning hit-and-run accident in Hague. State Police were called to Lake Shore Drive in Hague at about 3 a.m. Sept. 29 after Gabriel M. Houghton reportedly hit a guard rail and continued driving. Troopers located his vehicle disabled a short distance away and reportedly found Houghton, 25, in an intoxicated condition with unlawful amounts of cannabis, drug paraphernalia and felony-weight narcotics in his vehicle.

CDTA Flex Rides Now Come At Cost In Saratoga County
CDTA Flex rides will now cost $1.50 in southern Saratoga County following the end of a pilot program where rides were free of charge. The Daily Gazette reports CDTA Flex provides on-demand rides to key locations throughout the Capital Region. Customers can call a ride to pick them up wherever in southern Saratoga County before dropping them off at one of several key locations throughout Clifton Park, Halfmoon and Mechanicville.
Saratoga County Man Receives Congressional Gold Medal
A Saratoga County man has received one of the highest honors for his work in the military.
Bob Nevins, was a helicopter rescue pilot in the Vietnam War and was awarded the Congressional Gold Medal, reports WRGB. He was part of the elite Dustoff crews who pioneered the concept of rapid medical evacuation using helicopters, transporting nearly 900,000 wounded soldiers, allied forces, and even civilians during the Vietnam War.
South Glens Falls Woman Admits To Torching Clothes During Domestic Incident
A South Glens Falls woman has admitted to setting clothes on fire with a blowtorch during a domestic incident.
According to WNYT, 40 year old Desirae L. Saute set a pile of a man’s clothing on fire in the bedroom of a home on Second Street in South Glens Falls on March 2. A 12-year-old child inside the residence had some breathing problems but did not require medical attention.
Mechanicville Man Sentenced In Truck Theft, Chase
A Mechanicville man has been sentenced to up a decade in prison for stealing a truck and intentionally striking a police car during a high-speed chase. Jacob R. Hayner, 38, was arrested in May after police said he stole a car from the Stewart’s Shops on Route 146 near Exit 10. WNYT reports Hayner pleaded guilty in August to grand larceny and criminal mischief and was sentenced on Monday to 3 1/3 to 10 years in prison.
9th Annual Saratoga Giant Pumpkinfest Winners
The 9th annual Saratoga Giant Pumpkinfest kicked off on Saturday. Growers from all around the nation competed for the biggest gourd amongst nearly two dozen participants. Lois and Terry Nelson from West Virginia came in third with a pumpkin weighing 1727 pounds. Dan Kruszyna from Massachusetts with a 1814 pound pumpkin came in 2nd place. The first place winner was Jim Hazeltine who is from New York with a pumpkin weighing 2018 pounds.
Moreau Man Arrested On Rape Counts
Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Moreau man for allegedly raping a woman at Lamplighter Acres. Deputies said 34 year old Alim Mohammed was charged with first-degree rape and other charges. WTEN reports Mohammed is accused of forcing sexual contact and knowingly acting dangerously to the physical, mental, or moral welfare of a child under 17.
New Dispensary Opens Doors In Saratoga County
Another new dispensary is now operating in Saratoga County. Reef Cannabis company is on Route 9N in Greenfield Center, the shop is owned by local cannabis enthusiasts Mason Mello and Joe Moen, reports WNYT. The shop, say owners, has a farm-to-table approach, and features a variety of locally sourced products.
