In response to a growing number of complaints the Town Board will hold a public hearing set for 7 p.m. on Monday, May 19 to consider banning the motorized bicycles in municipal parks and preserves.
Ballston Spa residents object to 108 foot high cell tower
BALLSTON SPA Village residents who live in the shadow of a water tower now fear that another even taller structure will hover over their homes a 180-foot cellphone monopole. The approval the location is unsafe, as it is surrounded by several homes, and that the village is unwilling to look for a different site.

Two celebrated neighborhood spots in Saratoga County are making changes. The 43-year-old Ravenswood Pub in Clifton Park, went up for sale earlier this month for $3.249 million by Scott Schreifels, who bought the business in 2016. Up in Saratoga Springs, Clancy’s Tavern, a 28-year-old watering hole is getting its first real kitchen Sunday. Griffin Clancy said he hopes to debut the menu and the refurbished bar by the end of June.
Human remains found on construction site in Glens Falls
Construction workers uncovered human remains on Thursday in Glens Falls. City officials believe they were part of an old cemetery. An excavation crew unearthed the remains at a site on Broad and South Streets. The discovery brought construction to a halt and that’s because the Unmarked Burial Site Protection Act requires landowners to stop construction and report discoveries to authorities.
Condominium has sparked disdain in neighborhood
A proposed six-unit, three-story condominium fashioned after one of the city’s lost historic hotels, is being poorly received by its neighbors. Derby winner skips Preakness to train for Belmont
Sovereignty, the winner of this year’s Kentucky Derby, has officially arrived at the Saratoga Race Course, according to the New York Racing Association. The colt’s arrival came just two days after news that trainer Bill Mott had decided to skip the Preakness Stakes, thus forgoing a Triple Crown attempt, and aim for the Belmont Stakes instead. Mott told NYRA that he would see how Sovereignty acts once he settles down and then decide upon an exercise routine.

The Clifton Park town board is holding a hearing to get the public’s opinion on a proposal to ban electric bikes in town nature preserves and town parks. According to WTEN, The hearing is scheduled for 7 p.m. on Monday, May 19 in the Wood Memorial Meeting Room in the town office building.
Workers Unearth Old Burial Site In Glens Falls
Workers on Thursday discovered the remnants of an old burial site during construction on South Street in Glens Falls. According to WNYT, police said they located a few human bones that appear to be from the old cemetery and from one grave site. Historical records and the city’s historian noted that the cemetery was there until about 1850, and it was then moved to Bay Street.
Fire Heavily Damages South Glens Falls Home
A family is displaced after a large fire left their home destroyed Thursday night. WNYT reports the South Glens Falls Fire Company responded to Stillwood Lane at 6:47 Thursday night for a report of a structure. The roof caved in as firefighters were inside the home. There were no injuries to any firefighters or any civilians.
SSDBA Seeks Free Parking Days In Saratoga
The Saratoga Springs Downtown Business Association is in the midst of conversations with the city Department of Public Works about potentially having free parking days as the city gears up for another summer of seasonal paid parking in city-owned parking garages and surface lots. The Daily Gazette reports the city is set to begin its first full season of paid parking on Memorial Day.
