The state Attorney General’s Office has announced the indictment of 54 members of a drug trafficking ring which distributed heroin laced with fentanyl, powder and crack cocaine, and methamphetamine to a number of areas locally including Saratoga County. Among those charged; Miguel John, 26, of Saratoga Springs and Everett Russell Bishop, 48, of Wilton.
Ground Breaking For Joint Children’s Museums Venture
Ground was broken Tuesday for the new Children’s Museum in Saratoga Springs. It’s a result of the Children’s Museum at Saratoga and the Children’s Museum of Science and Technology merging, with the joint venture operating out of the Lincoln Bathhouse. This makes the third museum to call Saratoga Spa State Park home. WNYT reports museum officials hope the new location will be completed by late spring.
Partial Road Closure Next Weed Due To Damaged Train Underpass
Carlton Road between Van Patten Drive and Kinns Road will be closed to traffic on November 23 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. to make several repairs at the train underpass. This comes after a tractor trailer hit the low bridge, destroying its trailer. WTEN reports there are warning size about the clearance of the underpass but they were apparently ignored by the driver.
Vandalized Monument Back On Its Pedestal In Congress Park
A vandalized monument in Congress Park in Saratoga is back on its pedestal. WNYT reports the statue honoring volunteer soldiers from New York during the Civil War was damaged in July 2020. Repair costs totaled more than $58,000 and were covered under the city’s insurance program. Community donations of $14,000 were also made that were used for landscaping and security improvements.
Gov Announces Free Legal Help For Renters Facing Eviction
Governor Kathy Hochul today announced that $25 million in federal funding will be used to provide free legal assistance to low-income renters facing eviction in areas of the state outside of New York City where access to free legal aid is not available to meet the need of these renters. The legal assistance is aimed at helping both tenants and landlords resolve rent-related disputes and maintaining tenants’ housing stability.

Saratoga County Booster Shot Clinics
Saratoga County Public Health Services is increasing their booster shot clinics for seniors ahead of the holiday season. The county has added four Moderna clinics with a mass booster clinic at Gavin Park in Wilton expecting to serve 400 seniors. WTEN reports November 16, 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Saratoga County Public Safety Building. To be eligible, seniors must have had their second dose of Moderna or Pfizer on or before May 16 or their Johnson and Johnson vaccine on or before September 16.
November 16, 3:45 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at Corinth Central School. To be eligible, seniors must have had their second dose of Moderna or Pfizer on or before May 16 or their Johnson and Johnson vaccine on or before September 16.

Report: AG Looking Into BLM Arrests
The state attorney general’s office is looking into the arrests of Black Lives Matter demonstrators in Saratoga. WNYT reports
police arrested at least a dozen people and charged them with disorderly conduct in connection with a Black Lives Matter protest in July. Some face additional charges for blocking traffic. Several of those arrests came nearly two months after the protest.
