A Saratoga County man has died after a crash in Kingston. WNYT reports it happened around 4 p.m. Tuesday afternoon. They say Tramayne Holmes of Milton was driving on State Route 28, when he lost control of the car, crossed into oncoming traffic, and hit a tractor-trailer head on. The other driver had minor injuries.

A retired New York State Supreme Court Justice recommended a two-year suspension Wednesday for Bob Baffert for repeated medication violations after the two-time Triple Crown-winning trainer’s hearing with the New York Racing Association.
The 50-page ruling by hearing officer O. Peter Sherwood is not a final decision.

The Downtown Business Association is holding its annual Spring Shop & Dine event in Saratoga Thursday, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. WNYT reports participating businesses will be offering deals, in-store drawings for prizes, and other promotions throughout the evening. Shoppers are invited to pick up a “Shopper’s Card” at a table in front of Lifestyles of Saratoga, or at any of the participating stores, and visit at least 10 retail locations for a stamp

Where do New Yorkers stand when it comes to Governor Hochul? The Siena College Research Institute says currently 44% of New Yorkers say they have a favorable view of Kathy Hochul. 34% say they have an unfavorable view. 36% of New Yorkers think Hochul is doing an excellent or good job as Governor, compared to only 57% who say she’s doing a fair or poor job. It is the worst favorability rating she’s had since she’s been Governor.

Charges of disorderly conduct filed against Alexis Figuereo in Saratoga have been dropped. WNYT reports the activist and a leader of Black Lives Matter took part in a protest in Congress Park last July during which protesters moved to Broadway, where they blocked traffic, leading to several arrests. The county DA said she requested the charge be dropped, because she said her prosecution might interfere with a civil rights investigation by the State Attorney General’s Office.

Saratoga plans to name the music hall after long time public works commissioner Skip Scirocco, who died earlier this month from cancer at the age of 74. Along with being a public servant, he was also a musician. WNYT reports the space is located on the top floor of City Hall.

Nashville of Saratoga hosted an autism awareness fundraiser over the weekend. The Saratogian reports all proceeds from the event are being donated to the Autism Society of the Greater Capital Region. Owners Mike and Carolyn Crowley knew from the start this was something they wanted to do. Carolyn’s son, who is Mike’s stepson, has autism and April is Autism Awareness Month.

The man charged in the brutal murder of his ex-girlfriend’s husband in New Scotland, Albany County, is expected to appear in court again Monday afternoon. WNYT reports 40-year-old Jacob Klein is scheduled to be back in court for a preliminary hearing on Monday, accused in the gruesome death of 35-year-old Philip Rabadi at his home on April 13.

Governor Kathy Hochul has announced $59 million in funding is now available for the Clean Green Schools initiative, which will advance clean energy and energy efficiency solutions to improve indoor air quality and reduce emissions for more than 600 under-resourced public Pre-K-12 schools across the state. All public school buildings across New York State that are designated as high-needs by the New York State Education Department or located in a disadvantaged community will be eligible to participate in the program.

The Sitterly Road Bridge is now back open after being closed since Monday a day ahead of schedule. The bridge was struck by construction equipment last April. WNYT reports work was done this week while schools in the area were on spring break to minimize the impact on school buses. The bridge will be completely closed to traffic again starting June 18 through September 12.
