Lochner Eyes Stefanik Congressional Seat

41 year old Jill Lochner, from Greenfield in Saratoga County, said she’s long had her eye on the 21st Congressional District, has thought about running for years, and now believes she is in the right place to bring a fresh voice to Congress for the district. Rep. Elise Stefanik, R-Schuylerville, secured her fifth term in November. As a candidate, Stefanik said in 2014 that she would voluntarily limit her tenure in the House to five two-year terms.

Free Narcan Training In Corinth Thursday

Saratoga County will hold a free Narcan training and distribution event on Thursday, March 23, from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Corinth Fire House in the Village of Corinth ,16 Saratoga Ave. The Saratogian reports participants will learn how to recognize an opioid overdose and administer nasal Narcan, which takes approximately 10 minutes. Participants will receive a free Narcan rescue kit, which includes two doses of Narcan, a rescue breathing face shield, a certificate of training, a drug disposal system, and a mental health and substance use disorder resource guide.

Albany Man Arrested Stemming From Halfmoon Fight

An Albany man, who was accused of injuring someone during a fight in the town of Halfmoon, has been charged. According to WTEN, The Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office said Kevin Tanksley, 33, is accused of getting into a fight with two other men at the Stewart’s Shop on Route 9 on Tuesday. Deputies said Tanksley injured someone with a knife. The victim was taken to the hospital. Tanksley was charged with Assault in the Second Degree.

Latest On Charges Against BLM Activist In Saratoga

More fallout in Saratoga Springs Tuesday night following a commissioner’s decision to bring a criminal charge against a Black Lives Matter activist connected to a heated council meeting last month. According to WRGB, council is considering a resolution that would formally separate the city from Public Safety Commissioner Jim Montagnino, who cited typos in the resolution’s text. Montagnino also questioned the city attorney over the legality of it, asking if a resolution like this has ever been put forth before.

Man Stopped In Malta Faces Several Charges

State Police of Saratoga arrested Sean L. Douglas, 44, of Winthrop, NY, for Driving While Intoxicated, Aggravated Unlicensed Operator , Criminal Impersonation and Resisting Arrest. Troopers stopped a vehicle on State Route 9 in Malta. The driver, later identified as Douglas, provided false identifying information and did not possess a valid driver’s license. Following an investigation, while taking Douglas into custody for Driving While Intoxicated and other charges, he resisted arrest and fled on foot from Troopers before he was caught again and taken into custody.

Woman Killed After Husband’s Gun Goes Off In Saratoga County

A Saratoga County man’s gun went off and killed his wife. According to WNYT, it happened Sunday just after 7:30 p.m. at 157 Howe Rd. in Greenfield. 74 year old Joseph Cuva Sr. had just finished cleaning the 9 mm gun and was reloading it, when a bullet passed through a wall and hit 74 year old Charlene Cuva, 74, in the head. The investigation continues. No charges have been filed.

Saratoga County Restaurant Week

Saratoga County Restaurant Week gets underway March 22. People from throughout the Capital Region will have the opportunity to enjoy special menus at restaurants in the county. According to WNYT, most restaurants will honor their menus for both takeout and dine-in. There will also be a gift card sweepstakes where lucky winners will receive prize packages of 10 $100 gift cards to restaurants throughout Saratoga County.

Firefighter’s Home In Rexford Damaged By Blaze

A firefighter’s home was heavily damaged Sunday by a fire in Rexford. WNYT reports two adults and three young children lived in the home, which belonged to a member of the Vischer Ferry Fire Department. The fire department is now raising money to help get the family back on their feet.

Cohoes Man Arrested For Allegedly Making Threat Against Childcare Center

On March 16, 2023, State Police of Clifton Park arrested Brendan J. Ryder, 28, of Cohoes for Making a Terroristic Threat and Endangering the Welfare of a Child.
On March 15, 2023, at about 2:30 p.m., Troopers responded to a childcare center in Clifton Park, NY, for a report of a bomb threat. The investigation determined Ryder called the center and stated, “bomb threat.” The staff at the center activated their well-developed emergency response plan and removed the children and staff from the building to a safe location. The building was searched with the assistance of K9 officers and found to be safe. No one was injured during the incident, and no explosive materials were located.

Moreau Man Arrested On Weapons Counts

State Police of Wilton arrested David C. Fuller, 59, of Moreau for two counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon. On March 11, 2023, at about 11:47 p.m., Troopers responded to a home for the reports of a domestic dispute. On arrival, the victim exited the home and advised Fuller was still inside and threatened the use of a firearm to injure Law Enforcement. After a brief period, Fuller came out of the home and was taken into custody. Further investigation located an illegally possessed noncompliant rifle and a high-capacity magazine within the home.
