Saratoga Girl Raises Money For White Rhinos

A 6-year-old Saratoga Springs girl is using lemonade to raise money for white rhinos. The girl, named Fiona, learned about the animals during a trip to Disney World and also learned there are only two northern white rhinos left in the world, so she came up with a plan to support them. WNYT reports her lemonade stand has raked in hundreds of dollars for the animals so far.

20 Gain Citizenship In Saratoga Ceremony

Twnty people from around the globe were officially granted citizenship in the United States in Saratoga Tuesday. WRGB reports a citizenship ceremony was held at the Saratoga national Historical Park. The new citizens took the Oath of Allegiance and gave speeches about the process of getting citizenship.

Clifton Park July 4th Parade Draws In Thousands

Clifton Park’s July 4th parade was a big draw Tuesday. It stepped off from the Shenendehowa High School campus around noon – with floats, marching bands, and much more. The march ended at Clifton Commons with music, crafts, food, drinks and fireworks. Around 30,000 people were expected to be part of the festivities.

NXIVM Member Released From Prison

One of the faces of the NXIVM cult, Allison Mack, was released from federal prison on Monday. The Times Union reports
Mack is a former television star who provided women to NXIVM cult leader Keith Raniere. She was held at FCI Dublin, a low security prison near Oakland, California. She was sentenced in 2021 to three years in prison.

Rain Doesn’t Stop Saratoga Fireworks

While the Empire State Plaza fireworks were postponed on Tuesday due to inclement weather, the show went on in Saratoga Springs. According to WNYT, the crowd braved the rain as they listened to live music, celebrated, and took in a colorful display honoring our country.

Fingerpaint Sells Saratoga Building

Fingerpaint has sold its Saratoga Springs building for $11 million. According to the Daily Gazette, Fingerpaint, a large marketing agency that has been based at 395 Broadway, sold the building Friday afternoon. The business had been based at the Broadway location for about 10 years. When the building was purchased the company had around 30-40 employees, he said. Fingerpaint now employs over 800 employees around the world.

Lawyer Urges Charges To Be Dropped In Saratoga Shoot Out Case

An off-duty Vermont sheriff’s deputy allegedly involved in an early morning Saratoga Springs shootout in November is pushing to dismiss the case, in part, on the basis of procedural misconduct. The Daily Gazette reports defense lawyer Gregory Teresi claims that Saratoga County Assistant District Attorney Alan Premba rushed the case by failing to provide proper instructions and adequate evidence to support the eight-count indictment of his client Vito Caselnova back in March.

Sheriffs Deputies Save Swimmers

A Saratoga County Sheriff’s deputy and Warren County Sheriff’s sergeant were being credited with rescuing two swimmers from the Hudson River Wednesday. The Daily Gazette reports the two people were saved just before 6 p.m. Wednesday after Saratoga County Sheriff’s Deputy Nikklas Milligan and Warren County Sheriff’s Sgt. Pasquale “Rocky” Girard both were in the area and jumped into the water to assist the swimmers to safety.

Narcan Training In Saratoga County

People in Mechanicville received free Narcan training this week from the Saratoga County Department of Health and its partners. Narcan is a brand version of naloxone, which can rapidly reverse an opioid overdose. WRGB reports in 2022, there were 58 drug-related overdoes in Saratoga County under the age of 17. In this first six months of this year, there have already been 49 for that age group.
