Saratoga County Airport Gets State Money For Upgrades

Governor Kathy Hochul today announced that $230 million in awards to nine upstate airports for revitalization projects that reimagine and further modernize airports across upstate New York. Saratoga County Airport: $27 million for the construction of a new, state-of-the-art, energy-efficient terminal building. The new building’s first floor will provide two passenger waiting areas and other amenities while the lobby area will feature a display area for automobiles from the Saratoga Automobile Museum

Septic Issue Prompts Halfmoon Apartment Complex Residents To Leave

A septic system problem forced 26 people at a Halfmoon apartment complex out of their homes. WNYT reports it happened at Duke’s Grove on Hudson River Road where the septic system for those apartments is buried in a leach field directly across from the Hudson River and during heavy rains Tuesday, the leach field was saturated and the property deemed uninhabitable.

Northumberland Man Arrested On Sex Counts

State Police of Wilton arrested 36 year old Siatar K. Creech of Northumberland on a warrant for Use of a Child in a Sexual Performance, Rape and Criminal Sexual Act . Members of the Bureau of Criminal Investigation discovered that Creech had on multiple dates, engaged in sexual intercourse with a child under the age of 17 since the beginning of 2022 while in the town of Moreau. Creech was processed at SP Wilton and arraigned at the Ballston Spa Village Court where he was released on his own recognizance.

Report: Saratoga Has Replacement For First Night

Saratoga Springs is starting a new New Year’s festival to replace its First Night celebration. WNYT reports there will be a big celebration featuring more than a dozen musical acts, some of them nationally known. Bands will perform throughout the city, with the headliners playing at the City Center. People will be able to buy all-access badges and participate in a music crawl.

Halfmoon Man Facing Forgery Charges

On September 9, 2022, State Police of Clifton Park arrested Brian T. Stanley, 41, of Halfmoon, NY, on an Arrest Warrant for four counts of Forgery. On June 28, 2022, at about 5:40 p.m., Troopers received a complaint from a business operating in Halfmoon, NY, that stated several contracts had been submitted that contained forged signatures. An investigation determined the contracts that contained the forged signatures were submitted by Stanley. Stanley owns and operates under the name New York Renewable Energy, Engineering, and Recycling LLC (NYREER LLC.).

Deadly Motorcycle-Car Crash Under Investigation In Saratoga County

The Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a car vs. motorcycle accident in the Town of Galway. Officers responded to the incident Saturday night. WNYT reports Police say 46-year-old Chad Jazwinski was traveling westbound and struck a vehicle that had been traveling eastbound on State Route 29. He was ejected from the motorcycle and died at the scene.

High Rock Avenue Reconstruction Project

Saratoga has begun reconstruction of the High Rock Avenue and Excelsior Avenue intersection.
They anticipate completion by November 11th, 2022, weather and conditions
permitting. Work hours will generally be between 7 am and 4 pm, Monday through Friday.
During construction, all businesses will remain open and be able to be accessed past the Local Traffic
Only signs.

Mental Health A Priority In Saratoga Schools

In the Saratoga Springs City School District, mental health is on the top of the mind of students, families and staff after saying they were burnt out. Superintendent of schools Dr. Michael Patton told WRGB the district is working with a Queensbury based mental health group to double their mental health services to meet the needs of everyone in the district.

Man Pleads Not Guilty In Machete Attack

42-year-old Randell Mason pleaded not guilty Thursday morning in Albany County Court to the entire three count indictment against him stemming from a machete attack at a homeless shelter. WNYT reports Mason faces two counts of attempted murder and one count of assault. The possibility of bail was never entertained. Mason’s defense attorney never made the request.

Sitterly Road Bridge Reopens

The Sitterly Road Bridge on the Northway in Clifton Park is back open. The bridge was shut down after it was hit by a lift truck that was too tall. WNYT reports construction on the new bridge began in December 2021. Its rebuild finished up ahead of schedule.
