Gaffney’s Will Write A $70,000 Check To Reopen

We told you earlier that Gaffney’s Bar & Restaurant can reopen once it pays a fine imposed by the State Liquor Authority. Now it’s been revealed that the fine is $70,000. It was imposed after a series of incidents including fights that happened at the Caroline Street business since late December.

Fundraiser Planned For Family Of Man, Boy Killed In Motorcycle Crash

In the wake of a Lake George man and his step son being killed when a motorcycle crashed into them, a fundraiser is now planned to help the family. It happened near the Lake George Expedition Park. Next Wednesday, the park will hold a fundraiser, Wednesday, June 22 from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. It will be donation-only admission with live music and a silent auction and all proceeds will go to the family of 38 year old Jamie Persons and 8 year old Quinton Delgadillo.

Drowning Victim ID’ed As Watervliet Teen

The victim of a tragic drowning in Watervliet on Monday has been identified as 16-year-old Matthew Billetts, an 11th grader at Watervliet High School. According to WNYT, police say the teen suffered some sort of medical emergency while fishing with a friend, falling into the river. A Watervliet police officer – along with two city firefighters – jumped into the water immediately to attempt to locate Matthew, but were unsuccessful.

Rhode Island Man Charged With DWI In Saratoga

A Rhode Island man was charged with driving while intoxicated following a crash in the city. The Saratogian reports troopers observed a speeding vehicle traveling northbound on U.S. Route 9 in the town of Malta. The patrol activated their emergency lights but the driver took off and crashed in front of 125 South Broadway. 31 year old Luke Benoit was extricated from the vehicle and transported to Albany Medical Center where he is in stable condition. He has been charged with driving while intoxicated.

Man Dies After Being Pulled From Water At Hudson Shores Park

A man has died after rescue crews pulled a person out of the water at Hudson Shores Park. WNYT reports Witnesses called 911 late Monday afternoon. A fire department boat and a diver were looking for the man. Crews pulled him out around 5:30, and they were performing CPR as they took him to an ambulance.

Job Fair At The Track

The New York Racing Association (NYRA) will host a second job fair Thursday, June 23 through Saturday, June 25 for those who are interested in working at Saratoga Race Course during the 2022 summer meet. The job fair will be conducted at Saratoga Race Course inside the 1863 Club on Thursday, June 23 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.; Friday, June 24 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.; and Saturday, June 25 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Report: Ref Attack Suspect Will Turn Himself In Monday

New York State Police say a suspect in last Sunday night’s referee attack at the Impact Athletic Center in Halfmoon will turn himself in to authorities on Monday. WNYT reports a referee was ambushed and attacked by an out of control player. The reason is unknown.

Man Shot By State Police In Ballston Lake Standoff

A standoff Saturday night into Sunday in Ballston Lake ended up with a man being shot by State Police. WNYT reports troopers responded to a Ballston Lake home around 7 p.m. Saturday after a report of a man firing a shotgun in a field close to a home. Just before 7 a.m. Sunday, the 27-year-old man came out of his home with the shotgun, ignoring orders to put the weapon down. That’s when a member of the special response team fired a single shot, hitting the man in the upper body. He’s under guard at the hospital.
