SSPD Implements Majority Of Recommended Reforms
The Saratoga Springs Police Department has implemented more than half of the recommendations made in the city’s 2021 police reform, according to an independent audit of the police department. The audit recommended annual training programs for each role in the department and creating a separate department to handle responses to homelessness and mental health crises, among other things.
9th Annual Saratoga International Flavorfeast
The 9th annual Saratoga International Flavorfeast will offer food from around the world and cultural street performances throughout the day on Saturday, Oct. 12. The event will take place from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The event will offer flavors from France, China, Japan, Italy, Mexico and America, among others, reports WNYT. Admission is free. Food samples are $2 each.
Security Cameras Installed At Moreau Lake State Park
A year after the Moreau Lake State Park kidnapping case unfolded, the state has invested in security cameras at state parks. Both at the entrance and exit and other areas around the park. Also, the state has added fencing around the perimeter of the park, which now makes it necessary for people to enter and leave through the main gate rather than simply walking from the road to campsites, or other areas of the park.
Glens Falls Woman Killed In House Fire
A Glens Falls woman was killed in a fire Wednesday night. The fire broke out just after 9:30 p.m. at 39 ½ 4th Street. WNYT reports the victim had called 911 before she died in the fire. Officials described the woman as a geriatric female. Her name is being withheld at this time. The cause of the fire has yet to be determined.
Warren County, CSEA Reach Contract Agreement
The Warren County Board of Supervisors has announced that Civil Service Employees Association Local 857 has reached a four-year collective bargaining agreement with Warren County. Sun Community News reports the contract will run from Jan. 1, 2024 through Dec. 31, 2027. It was reached after independent mediation and fact-finding sessions that occurred earlier this year, and the Warren County Board of Supervisors unanimously voted to approve it Thursday, Oct. 3.
Northway Crash In Saratoga Claims A Life
Update on a story we told you about earlier involving a crash on the Northway in Saratoga Springs Tuesday afternoon. Around 4:54 PM, New York State Police say two cars crashed near the exit 14 ramp, and one of the vehicles rolled over. Then, two more cars crashed into each other as they came across the initial crash. Police say one person involved in the initial accident has died of their injuries.
Pickup, Dump Truck Colission Leaves Driver Seriously Injured
The Warren County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a crash in Queensbury on Wednesday morning that resulted in the hospitalization of one of the drivers. The crash took place on State Route 9 near Exit 20 on the Northway.
It happened just before 7am when a pick up ran a red light and collided with a dump truck. The driver of the pickup wasn’t wearing a seat belt and suffered life threatening injuries.
