A ribbon-cutting was held on Tuesday for the new Saratoga Senior Center. The chairman of Stewart’s Shops, Bill Dake, put $3 million into the new 14,000-square-foot facility off West Avenue, reports WNYT. It is more than twice the size of old space on William Street.
Man Pleads Guilty To Leaving Scene Of South Glens Falls Crash
A man has pleaded guilty to leaving the scene of a deadly crash, just as jury selection was getting underway in Saratoga County Court. WNYT reports John Lincoln Lynch hit Paul Trombley on Main Street in South Glens Falls in February 2022. Trombley died. Lincoln-Lynch agreed to a plea deal that carries one to three years in state prison. He will be sentenced on October 31.
Superintendent Top Earner In SSCSD
Saratoga Springs City School District Superintendent Michael Patton led the way for top earners in the district for the 2022-23 school year, with other administrators and principals rounding out the 10 highest paid employees. According to the Daily Gazette, Patton made $212,009 in 2022 — $8,800 more than his base salary of $203,209, according to data provided by the district in response to a Freedom of Information Law request.

A contractor wanted by Mechanicville Police turned himself in on Saturday. WRGB reports it comes amid claims that Dakota Smith, of DAS Builders, LLC, is stealing thousands of dollars and materials from his clients. Smith was facing charges in Mechanicville after the city’s building inspector says Smith faked insurance documents when applying for a building permit.

Man Drowns In Greater Sacandaga Lake
A man has drowned, attempting to swim to a vessel in Great Sacandaga Lake Sunday afternoon. WRGB reports the Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call of a drowning in the lake near Mountain Stream Lane in the town of Edinburg at 12:35 PM where a 40 year old man was trying to swim to a vessel but went under and never came back up. He was recovered by SCUBA divers but resuscitation efforts were unsuccessful.
Delays Around Track For Road Work
Drivers in Saratoga Springs should watch out for lane closures starting this week. WNYT reports one lane in each direction will be closed between East Avenue and Henning Road as work resumes along the Saratoga Racecourse.
