Deal Could Seal Criminal Convictions In Some Cases

Gov. Kathy Hochul and state legislative leaders all agree: They’re nearing a deal on a landmark bill that would automatically seal criminal convictions in an effort to help people find work after they’ve paid their debt to society.
The measure — which is supported by a broad swath of criminal-justice reform advocates, labor unions and business organizations — would seal most misdemeanor and felony records after a person has completed their incarceration and following a multiyear waiting period, making them unavailable to prospective employers and the general public, in most cases.

Wateford Man Arrested For Trying To Sell Stolen Trailer On FB Marketplace

On Tuesday, a Waterford man was arrested following an investigation into a stolen dump trailer. Police say the dump trailer was stolen from a residence and that the suspect, Christopher L. Crispell, 40, attempted to sell it on Facebook Marketplace. WTEN reports the trailer was located by the City of Troy Police and returned to its owner.

NYRA Hosting Job Fair At The Track

NYRA will host a job fair next month for anyone interested in serving fans this summer at the Saratoga Race Course. WNYT reports the three-day job fair will be conducted inside the 1863 Club on Thursday, June 22 through Saturday, June 24.
You must be at least 15 years old to apply, and must bring a photo ID and Social Security card or equivalent.

Police Say Milton Man’s BAC Was Three Times Legal Limit

54 year old Stephen D. Sewall of Milton, is charged with Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated and multiple other Vehicle and Traffic Law violations. On May 27, 2023, at about 12:43 p.m., Troopers received the report of a hit-and-run crash on Northline Road in Milton, NY. Troopers located the vehicle that fled on East West Road in Saratoga and conducted a traffic stop. The driver was identified as Sewall. No injuries were reported as a result of the crash. Sewall was arrested for DWI and recorded a 0.31% BAC, which is more than three times the legal limit.

Two Arrested After Clifton Park Traffic Stop

State Police a arrested Catherine A. Peacock, 36, of Corinth, NY, for t Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance and Criminal Possession of a Weapon. 47 year old Romere M. Anderson was arrested on similar counts after Troopers stopped a vehicle on I-87 in Clifton Park, The driver was identified as Peacock, and the passenger as Anderson. The investigation discovered a defaced Handgun, Controlled Substances, Drug Paraphernalia, and a large amount of U.S. Currency in the vehicle.

New Police Chief Named In Saratoga

Saratoga Springs has named the next police chief. According to WNYT, the appointment comes after current police chief Shane Crooks filed his retirement papers, effective June 30th. Police lieutenant Tyler McIntosh is next in line to take the helm.
McIntosh has been with the city police department since 2012.

Man Dies In Hoosick Falls Motorcycle Crash

A man was killed Monday night in a motorcycle crash in Hoosick Falls. It happened just after 8 p.m. on state Route 22.
WNYT reports 44 year old Michael Cameron of Eagle Bridge, was riding north on a motorcycle when he passed a vehicle in a no-passing zone. He hit another vehicle in the southbound lane that was trying to make a left turn.

‘Time Out’ Magazine Calls Saratoga One Of Best Small Towns With LGBTQ Pride

According to global magazine TimeOut, Saratoga Springs was named 3rd out of the top 12 best small towns with LGBTQ+ pride. The article noted there’s an LGBTQ+ teen night on the first Friday of each month, and the public library hosts an ongoing “Read with Pride Book Club.” This year’s Pride month also includes the March with Pride at the Annual Flag Day Parade on June 10, Pride at The Winery on June 17, an inaugural Pride Golf Tournament on June 23, and the second annual Pride Softball Tournament on June 24.

$5000 Reward Offered In Schenectady Homcide

A $5,000 reward to find a person of interest in a Sunday Schenectady homicide, is being offered by the U.S. Marshals Office.
According to WNYT, the homicide happened at 1030 Pleasant Street. The victim is now identified as Tishawn Folkes-Taylor, 44. Police are searching for Timothy Taylor, described as a Black male, 5 ft., 9 in. tall and 160 pounds, with a medium build and a tattoo on the left side of his neck.

Busload Of Migrants Arrive At Colonie Motel

The first bus of migrants sent to the Capital Region from New York City arrived in Colonie. WRGB reports an employee at the SureStay Plus Hotel by Best Western on Wolf Road said the bus arrived around 12:30 Sunday morning. Colonie Police confirmed the arrival and said the occupants of the bus are now staying at the hotel.
