Saratoga Mayor Discusses Homeless Shelter Plans

Saratoga Springs Mayor Ron Kim standing behind the city’s decision to move forward with placing a year-round homeless shelter at the current senior center on William Street. WRGB reports the senior center has outgrown their facility and will be moving to the YMCA in 2023. Kim says providing a 24/7 option will offer resources to better the quality of life for the at- risk population.

Wedding Event In Saratoga Sunday

There was a wedding event Sunday in Saratoga that transformed the National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame. Network Saratoga hosted a Bridal Affair where brides could get advice from local wedding professionals on how to make their special day spectacular. Engaged couples enjoyed food tastings and winning prizes throughout the day, and brides could register for grand prize drawings.

Caffe Lena Hosts Pop-Up Health Clinic

Sunday, Caffé Lena hosted a free pop-up health clinic for uninsured musicians. WNYT reports according to recent surveys, 43% of professional musicians in the United States do not have health insurance.
The clinic included custom-fitted earplugs for on-stage hearing protection, blood pressure screenings, dietician consultation, HEP-C and HIV screenings, and more.

‘Baskets For Ben’ Event Friday

One of the most prominent charity fundraisers in the area, “Baskets for Ben,” is to be held Friday, Oct. 28 with a mission to enhance the lives of children living in Warren, Essex, Washington and Saratoga counties. Sun Community News reports all are invited to attend. The event, the 11th annual fundraiser sponsored by the Ben Osborn Memorial Foundation, is to be held from 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the V.F.W. Post 6196 at 12 Luzerne Road in Queensbury.

Jersey Man Arrested For Saratoga County Break Ins

The Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office arrested a New Jersey man, accused of 2 counts of burglary. WRGB reports 43 year old
Robert E Brown III is accused of breaking into a home back in April 2021, and of breaking into the storage unit of the homeowner back in June of 2021. Brown was already held on separate charges in the Saratoga County Jail.

Galway Man Charged With Rape

A Galway man is accused of having sex with an 11-year-old child. WNYT reports 18 year old Jayden Buckmaster is charged with rape and possession of a sexual performance of a child – which are both felonies. The teen was sent to the Saratoga County Correctional Facility. He’s scheduled to appear in Greenfield Town Court sometime in the near future.

Missing Saratoga Teen Found Safe

Police in Saratoga Springs say the teenager they had been looking for has been found. Authorities say Summer Weidman has been reunited with her family. She was reported missing after leaving Saratoga Springs High School Tuesday. No information has been released about where she was found or the circumstances surrounding her disappearance.

Saratoga Man Linked To Break In Through DNA, Say Authorities

A man has been arrested after being linked to a burglary at a Queensbury business. According to WNYT, 33 year old Anthony Putnam of Saratoga Springs was linked to the crime, using DNA.
The Warren County Sheriff’s Office arrested him on one felony count of burglary in the third degree and one count of felony criminal mischief in the third degree. Putnam was arraigned in Warren County Court and released on his own recognizance.

Halfmoon Man Charged With DWI In Wrong Way Northway Crash

State Police arrested 25 year old Jackson K. Amankrah, of Halfmoon for Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated and multiple violations of the Vehicle and Traffic Laws. They say early on the morning of October 16th, troopers responded to a two-vehicle head-on crash on I-87 in Colonie where Amankrah was operating a vehicle southbound on I-87 in the northbound lanes and struck a northbound tractor-trailer head-on.

Polls Show Different Margins In NY Gov’s Race

A Quinnipiac University poll shows Governor Hochul with a 50-46% lead over Republican challenger Lee Zeldin, a narrow, four-point margin in a heavily Democratic state that hasn’t elected a Republican to statewide office in 20 years.
The size of the gap between the two candidates, however, is in dispute: Siena College issued a separate earlier Tuesday showing Hochul with an 11-point advantage, 52-41%, while a Marist College poll last week showed Hochul with an eight-point lead among likely November voters.
