A new Multi-Use Sports Area at the Scott T. Johnson Recreation Center, located at 15 Vanderbilt Ave., has officially been completed and it is open for members of the community to enjoy. The Saratogian reports the project includes a 70-by-37-foot sports area designed and installed by Kompan and includes a fully enclosed paved surface with a basketball court as well as two large soccer-style goals and four mini-goals built into the sides of the area.
Saratoga Preps For New Year’s Celebration
Spa City is getting ready to ring in the new year with a music-packed weekend for the whole family to enjoy. According to the Saratogian, the weekend moving into the new year will boast bands ranging from Grammy Nominees like Joan Osborne and Robert Randolph and local bands as well as a block party, fireworks and the first-day Five-K.
‘SPAC In Conversation’ Fundraiser Returning
Saratoga Performing Arts Center (SPAC) recently announced the return of its fundraising event, “SPAC in Conversation,” on Oct. 18. This year’s “conversation” will be with Julie Scelfo, author of “The Women Who Made New York” and a former New York Times journalist, reports the Saratogian.

From noon to close on Friday, people swing by Stewart’s Shops and get a hot, iced or cold brew any size in honor of National Coffee Day. WNYT reports last year, Stewart’s gave away more than 92,000 free coffees.
Arrest Made In Saratoga Video Stalking Case
A man wanted by police for recording and posting videos of girls and young women in Saratoga and Saratoga Spa State Park has been arrested. WNYT reports Charles Ross is being represented by a public defender. He’s charged with stalking and has pleaded not guilty.
Saratoga To Hold Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day
Saratoga is holidng its household hazardous waste collection day, Saturday, November 18, 2023 8 a.m.—12 noon at the ice rink. Many home and garden product contain potentially chemicals that may be disposed of safely. Only City of Saratoga Residents can participate and only home generated hazardous wastes are acceptable. A New York State driver’s license is required. No Business nor Commercial Licensed vehicles permitted.

Stefanik Wants Adirondack Rail Line Fully Operational
U.S. Rep. Elise Stefanik, R-Saratoga, has called on railway operators to address future disruptions to the Adirondack line.
Operations north of Saratoga Springs resumed on Sept. 11 after a summer-long hiatus. Stefanik is demanding that the 380-mile line be fully operational by next summer. The two-page letter was addressed to presidents Roger Harris of Amtrak and Tracy Robinson of Canadian National.
Trial Resumes For Alleged New Scotland Killer
The trial of a man accused of murdering local physician assistant Philip Rabadi will resume on Tuesday. WNYT reports testimony will continue in the case against Jacob Klein, the Virigina man who is charged with second-degree murder. Klein allegedly killed Rabadi in April 2022 in his New Scotland home.
