A Ballston Spa man has been arrested following an investigation into a shoplifting incident, according to State Police. Tony Prichard, 35, is facing multiple charges. WTEN reports troopers responded to the Walmart in Queensbury for the report of a larceny in progress. Before police arrival, the suspect, later identified by troopers as Prichard, reportedly fled the business in a car, possessing store merchandise valued at over $1,000. He was nabbed during a traffic stop.
Early Sunday Crash In Ballston
The Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a crash that occurred in Ballston on State Route 67 on Sunday morning.
At 3:48 a.m. on October 1, police received a call reporting a crash on State Route 67 in the
area of Hop City Road. Officers arrived to the scene of an accident involving a passenger vehicle and a tractor trailer. No serious injuries have been reported.
Search Continues For 9 Year Old Charlotte Sena
A search is ongoing for 9-year-old Charlotte Sena. State Police said she may have been abducted from a campsite at Moreau Lake State Park. She was last seen around 6:45 p.m. Saturday in the area of Loop A, Site 18 at the park. An Amber Alert was sent out Sunday morning. Charlotte is described at 5’1″ tall with blonde hair, weighing about 90 pounds. She was last seen wearing an orange tie-dye Pokemon shirt, dark blue pants, black Crocs, and a gray bicycle helmet.
Mechanicville Man Arrested In Stolen RV Investigation
A Mechanicville man was arrested this week a two-month-long stolen recreational vehicle (RV) investigation. Andrew Castle, 50, is charged with second-degree criminal possession of stolen property, reports WTEN. An RV had been missing from a dealership in Clifton Park since July, and police received a report regarding the RV on August 25. Police say the stolen RV was valued at over $50,000 and located it in Schaghticoke.
Sheriff’s Office Urges Participation In Project Lifesaver
The Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office encourages families to sign up for Project Lifesaver. The Saratogian reports it’s an initiative dedicated to enhancing the safety and well-being of individuals at risk of wandering and getting lost and to change the way the community responds to the needs of those with cognitive disorders, such as Alzheimer’s disease, Autism and other related conditions.
Federal Dollars Designated For Whitney Young Health Center
U.S. Rep. Paul Tonko has announced a significant monetary award to the Whitney Young Health Center in Albany.
The Center will receive $2,500,000 from Washington for an expansion of services to underserved minority populations who have substance use or mental health disorders.
Tourism Partnership In Saratoga County
Saratoga County has announced that they are partnering with “Discover Saratoga” to grow tourism in the county. WNYT reports the partnership was approved by the Board of Supervisors at its September meeting. Discover Saratoga will become the promotion agency for the county.
Skidmore College Data Breach Being Probed By Law Firms
Following a data breach, Skidmore College is being investigated by at least two law firms, with at least one ready to file lawsuits against the college if it doesn’t take steps to effectively remedy the situation. The Daily Gazette reports individuals affected by the breach, which occurred in February, were notified by letter dated Sept. 15 from Chief Technology Officer Dwane Sterling.
Travel Show Shooting In Saratoga County
Darley Newman, the host of the PBS series “Travels with Darley” is assisting Saratoga County as it counts down to the 250th anniversary of the Battle of Saratoga by exploring the county’s rich Revolutionary War history. Newman has been shooting the series in the county since Sunday, stopped by the Olde Bryan Inn, which had been owned by American Revolutionary War hero Alexander Bryan.
Fireworks Displays Upcoming In Saratoga
You may not think of fireworks much in late September but be aware there are two upcoming displays in Saratoga Springs. The first is a private event at Water’s Edge on September 29 from 7:30 – 7:45 pm. The second is Celebration Weekend at Skidmore College on October 21 from 9 – 9:15 pm.
