Saratoga County Airport To Get Piece Of $49 Million Funding
Governor Kathy Hochul has announced that 36 public-use airports across New York will receive $49 million in state funding. The funds will go toward strategic infrastructure enhancements to increase safety, advance business development and promote sustainability. Saratoga County Airport will be among the recipients.
Halfmoon Man Accused Of Selling Meth
A 33-year-old Halfmoon man is accused of trafficking large quantities of methamphetamine throughout Saratoga County. WNYT reports Michael J. Scensny was arrested on Oct. 17 following a lengthy investigation by the Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office and Saratoga Springs Police Department. Scensny is accused of both possessing and selling quantities of meth on numerous occasions.
New Hate And Bias Hotline In NY
Governor Kathy Hochul has announced the launch of a new telephone hotline and online form allowing New Yorkers to report hate and bias incidents directly to the Division of Human Rights’ Hate and Bias Prevention Unit. The dedicated incident reporting hotline is at 844-NO-2-HATE.
Clifton Park Man In Court For Unlawful Imprisonment
Clifton Park man in court for allegedly holding someone against their will. WNYT reports Jeremy Vanwormer was charged in August with criminal mischief and unlawful imprisonment after State Police responded to a Clifton Park residence for reports of a domestic incident. His next court date is set for November 2nd.
Watch Out For Deer On Roadways
DEC and DMV reminding drivers to be aware that deer and moose are most active and more likely to enter public roadways this time of year, as they search for mates during their breeding season, which is the months of October, November and December. According to the University at Albany’s Institute for Traffic Safety Management and Research, in 2022, 41.5 percent of the crashes between deer and vehicles occurred during this three-month span.
Montagnino Proposes Waiving Fees For Additional Patrols At Jewish Houses Of Worship
Tuesday’s City Council meeting saw a proposal from Commissioner of Public Safety Jim Montagnino, revolving around the city’s response to what is current events in the Middle East. He proposed to waive fees “for additional police patrols for our Jewish houses of worship.” He proposed a resolution that would waive the fees associated with the additional police patrols at and around these houses of worship, for up to $150 per day through Dec. 31 or “until further action by the City Council.”
School Districts Across The State Targeted In Swatting Incidents
Governor Kathy Hochul says 10 school districts across Western New York, the Capital Region, Central New York, Long Island, the Southern Tier and the North Country received swatting threats Wednesday morning. Hochul says she has directed the New York State Police to investigate the threats and work closely with all levels of law enforcement to identify the perpetrators and hold them accountable.
Report: Ballston Spa Man Arraigned On Manslaughter Counts
The Ballston Spa man who reportedly attacked Bernard Rodgers with a baseball bat in March 2022 is facing new charges. 46 year old Pharrin Michael Greene was arraigned on a second indictment on charges including first-degree manslaughter. Rodgers was initially treated at the Albany Medical Center. He later passed away on August 15, 2022.
Saratoga Springs City Council Hears From Residents About Proposed Tax Increase
A fiery city council meeting took place Tuesday night in the city of Saratoga Springs. Many residents voiced their displeasure after seeing a tax hike in the city’s latest budget. WTEN reports earlier in the month, the city presented a $60.5 million 2024 budget, and the finance commissioner said the reason for the increase was because of hiring, inflation, and decisions made by past administrators.
