Moreau Man Sentenced For Attack On Woman He Met On Dating App

A Moreau man was sentenced on Wednesday to 22 years in prison for attacking a woman he met on a dating app. WNYT reports Michael Pelletier was convicted in September of first-degree sexual abuse, criminal sex act and second-degree assault and endangering the welfare of a child. The incident happened at a home on Selfridge Road Moreau on June 24, 2023.

LGLC Makes Land Purchase

The Lake George Land Conservancy (LGLC) purchased 86 acres of forested land in Glenburnie, Town of Putnam, on Nov. 22. Sun Community News reports the conservation project permanently protects an additional 1,400 feet of Sucker Brook, one of the lake’s largest tributaries, providing critical water quality protection for Lake George while also extending a network of adjacent protected lands that support a diverse wildlife population.

Apartment Project Proposal Tabled In Malta

Plans to bring hundreds of new apartments to Saratoga County are on hold after the Malta Town Board voted to table the idea. WTEN reports a developer made a formal presentation to the board to transform the old Albany-Saratoga Speedway property into apartments and retail space, stating it would be Section 8 housing, but rather apartments for middle class workers earning between $49,000 and $70,000 a year.

Nine Additional Days Of Racing Planned For Saratoga Race Course

There will be nine additional days of racing at Saratoga Race Course in 2025. WNYT reports the New York State Gaming Commission has approved NYRA’s plans for an extended five-day Belmont at Saratoga Racing Festival beginning Wednesday, June 4 and ending Sunday, June 8. Also, NYRA will host a special Fourth of July Racing Festival at Saratoga – four days of racing beginning Thursday, July 3 and ending Sunday, July 6.

Saratoga Festival Of Trees Kicks Off Wednesday

The Saratoga Festival of Trees is kicking off Wednesday at the Saratoga Springs City Center. It’s hosted by the Catholic Charities of Saratoga, Warren, and Washington counties and WNYT reports money raised will help the Catholic Charities of Saratoga, Warren, & Washington Counties to serve their community in times of need. The event runs through Sunday.

Ballston Spa Farm Sending Trees To Troops

“Trees for Troops” is all about bringing the Christmas spirit to troops who can’t be home for the holidays. WNYT reports volunteers gathered at Ellms Family Farm in Ballston Spa to help load 150 Christmas Trees onto FedEx trucks. Those trees will be donated to military bases around the country.

Plan On The Table To Help Homeles Families In Warren County

Homeless families in Warren County will receive more comprehensive assistance from local government within a year or so if plans under consideration by area officials are realized. Sun Community News reports last month,
county Social Services Commissioner Christina Mastrianni proposed repurposing a county-owned house on Gurney Lane into a shelter that would provide temporary housing for up to four families.

Northumberland Man Sentenced To Six Years For Child Sex Assault

A Northumberland man, who was arrested after fleeing New York for sexually assaulting a child multiple times, was sentenced on Monday. WTEN reports State Police traveled to South Carolina in June to arrest Siatar Creech. The 38-year old didn’t appear in Saratoga County Court after being arrested and charged in Fall 2022 for raping a child.

Wilton Man Charged With Trying To Strangle Victim

A Wilton man has been arrested again after a disturbance at Louden Oaks Mobile Home Park. Jesse Klingbeil tried to strangle someone who has a protective order against him, reports WNYT. Klingbeil was previously arrested November 17 for allegedly throwing a phone at someone and damaging someone’s windshield.

Area Elementary School Teacher Accused Of Having A Gun Without A License

An elementary school teacher in the Ballston Spa Central School District is accused of having a gun without a license. WNYT reports 42 year old Heather Cianfarani of Charlton was arrested Nov. 26 during a domestic incident. The district confirmed on Monday that Cianfarani is an elementary school teacher at Wood Road in Ballston Spa, and that she’s been placed on paid leave.
