Report: Bull Wins Reelection As Clifton Park Highway Superintendent

Incumbent Dahn Bull won reelection as Clifton Park’s Highway Superintendent, defeating challenger Michael Traider to secure a fourth term in office. The Daily Gazette reports Results were unofficial, but according to tallies posted by the Saratoga County Board of Elections with all districts reporting, Bull — running on the Democratic and Working Families party lines — had 4,525 votes. Traider, running as a Republican and Conservative, had 3,376.

Report: Safford Wins Mayor’s Race In Saratoga

Republican Saratoga Springs challenger John Safford declared victory Tuesday evening against incumbent Democrat Ron Kim, who has conceded. WNYT reports Safford had 3,752 votes compared with 3,172 for Kim, according to unofficial returns. Third-party candidate Chris Mathiesen got 1,420.

Saratoga Public Safety Commissioner Election Results

A flier criticizing one of the candidates for support of Black Lives Matter may have cost Public Safety Commissioner Jim Montagnino his bid for reelection. WNYT reports Republican Timothy Coll received 4,072 votes to win, while Kristen Dart of the Community First Party received 2,396 votes. Montagnino came in third with 1,806 votes.

More Details On Wilton Mall Road Rage Incident

WNYT has obtained more details in a road rage incident on Thursday in the Wilton Mall parking lot.
It happened near Target just after 7 p.m. An investigation determined that one of the parties attempted to leave in their vehicle, when they were followed by Damion P. Lawyer, 23, of Milton. Police say Lawyer drove recklessly through the parking lot and intentionally struck the victim’s vehicle with his, no injuries.

Saratoga Dems Critical Of ‘Racist’ Mailer

The Saratoga Springs Democratic Committee on Monday blasted what it called a “racist” mailer criticizing Black Lives Matter and a candidate for public safety commissioner. According to WNYT, the mailer from the campaign of incumbent Public Safety Commissioner Jim Montagnino, the Democrat-endorsed candidate, said a vote for Kristen Dart is a vote for BLM. Montagnino is the incumbent and the candidate endorsed by the Democratic Party. Dart is running on the Community First ballot line.

While the presidential election is a year away, there are notable races for local elections on the ballot in Tuesday’s election.
Polls are open from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. In Saratoga Springs, Democratic incumbent Mayor Ron Kim is being challenged by Republican John Safford and Christian Mathiesen from the One-Saratoga Group. Also, there is a contentious race for public safety commissioner. Incumbent Democrat Jim Montagnino is facing a challenge from Republican Timothy Coll and Kristen Dart, who is running on the Community First Line.

Police Presence To Be Boosted Monday At South Glens Falls High School

The South Glens Falls High School superintendent and interim principal have informed families about a potential school threat. This threat was found in a note during a Friday evening cleaning in a school bathroom. The school’s authorities were promptly notified, leading Deputy Carey of the school resource officer team and the Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office to start an investigation. Despite the threat being non-credible, the school will increase police presence on Monday, November 6, 2023, as a safety measure. The school has asked parents to discuss the implications of making such threats with their children.

Six Left Homeless By Gansevoort Blaze

Six people including 3 children are without a home after a fire in Gansevoort. WRGB reports Wilton Fire Department officials say the fire began just before 2 p.m. Everyone was able to make it out of the building safely. The Red Cross is helping the victims with food and shelter and other basic needs. No word yet on a cause.
