A 30-year-old was arrested and charged with multiple felonies after police said he had over 19,000 images of child porn.
WRGB reports State Police arrested Thomas Jackson of, Averill Park, charging him with felony counts of Promoting a Sexual Performance by a Child, Possessing a Sexual Performance by a Child and Possessing an Obscene Sexual Performance by a Child.

Report: Route 50 Diner Could Reopen

The Route 50 Diner in Ballston Spa closing and being seized by the New York State Department of Taxation and Finance from unpaid taxes. There is new hope that the diner that’s fallen behind on tax payments can reopen. WTEN reports tax officials have said, in a statement, that, “If the business owner is willing to make a good faith effort to come into compliance with the law that every other restaurant owner must comply with, we’ll work with them to reopen the business.”

Moreau Man Draws Probation For Threatening Police

A 60-year-old Saratoga County man has been sentenced to five years of probation for threatening police during a domestic incident. David C. Fuller, of Moreau, was arrested in March after police responded to a home in Moreau for a report of a fight. The victim came out of the house and told police that Fuller was inside threatening to use his weapon to hurt police, reports WNYT.

Belmont Stakes To Run At Saratoga

The Belmont Stakes will be run at Saratoga Race Course in 2024. WNYT reports the move is a needed one because Belmont Park is undergoing a half-billion-dollar renovation. The third leg of the Triple Crown will be run on Saturday, June 8. Information on hospitality and pricing for the big event are expected in early 2024.

Route 50 Diner In Ballston Spa Closed

The Route 50 Diner in Ballston Spa is closed, and it appears to be permanent. Orange signs on the doors Tuesday evening said, “This property has been seized for nonpayment of taxes, and is now in the possession of the state of New York.” The Daily Gazette reports two tax warrants in the total amount of more than $40,000 were issued to the diner at 2002 Doubleday Ave. this year — $20,794 on May 12 and $19,926 on Nov. 20.

Local Author Releases First Book

Local author, Fran Dingeman, releases her first book, called The Animal Menagerie. It’s an A to Z picture book for children ages 4-7. The characters are animals for each letter of the alphabet and aims to introduce dozens of creative new words to a child’s vocabulary.The new release retails for $21.99 plus tax.

Study Says New Yorkers Tops In Sleep Disorders

New York residents are the most likely to suffer from sleep disorders in the United States, according to a new study from Eachnight. Eachnight said it looked into online search data for keywords per 100,000 people to find the top 10 states with residents suffering from those disorders. The top searched keyword in New York State was insomnia, which reached 28,600 searches in 2023 at the time of this study.

Senior Center To Offer Hot Meals

The Department of Aging and Youth Services is offering its Gather and Dine program at the Saratoga County Senior Center. According to WNYT, the program offers hot, nutritious meals to seniors 60 and older, at noon, Monday through Friday.
Anyone interested can make reservations by Wednesday, Dec. 6 by signing up at the Senior Center.

Man Copping Plea In Saratoga Shootout Likely To Receive No Jail Time

The man accused of firing a gun in a downtown Saratoga Springs shootout in November 2022 intends to plead guilty to misdemeanor attempted assault and likely will receive no jail time. WNYT reports Alex Colon is one of three men from Utica accused of punching Vito Caselnova on Broadway at around 3 a.m. on Nov. 20, 2022. The incident escalated into Colon and Caselnova, of Glens Falls, exchanging gunfire, which was seen on surveillance camera footage.
