Food that sickened several people at the Saratoga Springs BOCES facility did not contain illegal substances.WNYT reports five people became ill and two were transported to the hospital during a culinary class at the facility on Henning Road in March. Saratoga Springs police sent the food, which is now identified as scones, to a state health department lab for testing.

A man convicted in a deadly 2012 Northway crash was ordered back to jail by a county court judge. WNYT reports Dennis Drue appeared in Saratoga County Court. It involved him not adhering to a stipulation of his manslaughter conviction more than a decade ago. Drue was not supposed to operate any motor vehicle, whether he owned it or not, that did not have an ignition interlock device installed.

A Siena College freshman from Saratoga Springs has been charged with arson after he allegedly set three fires in a Siena dorm in April, reports the Daily Gazette. 19 year old Joshua Thomas was been indicted in Albany County Court on two felony counts of second-degree arson and one count of second-degree attempted arson.
Thomas is accused of setting three separate fires at a Hines Hall dorm room last month, officials said.

Potential jurors in the case of a Milton man accused of killing another man in what’s been described as a sexual act involving chloroform were asked whether they had any prejudices related to sex, drugs or gay people during jury selection on Monday. Ronald Rayher is accused of causing the death of Thomas J. Krider, also known as TJ Greene, of Ticonderoga on April 5, 2024.

New York State Police arrested a Franklin County man in Malta during a traffic stop on Friday for alleged drug possession. WTEN reports troopers said William M. Buckshot, 58, of Hogansburg, is charged with first-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, first-degree criminal possession of cannabis, and vehicle and traffic violations.

A car show held in Greenfield Center over the weekend successfully raised more than $10,000 for the nonprofit organization Folds of Honor New York. WNYT reports Folds of Honor provides scholarships and educational assistance to the families of fallen or disabled military service members.

Twelve positions would be eliminated through attrition under a proposed $110.3 million budget for Ballston Spa Central School District that calls for more than $3 million in new spending. The Daily Gazette reports spending would increase by $3.1 million, or 2.9%, compared to the current operating budget of $107.1 million. All current programming would be preserved under the proposed 2025-26 academic year spending plan.

Saratoga Comic Con 2025 was held over the weekend at the Saratoga Springs City Center. It’s in its 10th year and is considered the largest Comic Con event in Upstate New York. WTEN reports the event was held for those interested in cosplay, anime, collectible, and comics. Fans lined up to meet celebrity guests featured in popular video games, movies and tv shows.

State officials want to warn you about a jury duty scam that’s going around New York State. WNYT reports the scammers are contacting people by phone or e-mail, pretending to be a court official claiming you missed jury duty. The New York State court system will never ask you for money or personal information over the phone.

23 year old Ivan A. Durazno-Escandon of Halfmoon was arrested on Friday by the Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office following investigation into a traffic stop in Clifton Park. The Sheriff’s Office says they conducted a traffic stop around 2:10 a.m. on Route 9 for a vehicle failing to maintain its lane. WNYT reports Durazno-Escandon is accused of operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated and at a time when his blood alcohol content was 0.10%.
