Faculty at Skidmore College voted to ratify their first union contract. The agreement includes pay raises, longer contracts, expected renewals, and paid family leave. WTEN reports the contract covers nearly 200 non-tenure track employees after they voted in favor of a union in September 2022. Everyone voted in favor of ratifying the contract, according to the union.

Hoffman Car Wash’s newest location is offering free car washes through the weekend at 194 Broad St. in Glens Falls, with no voucher required. WNYT reports it’s the 33rd Hoffman’s Car Wash location in the Capital Region.
The car wash is offering free washes until the end of the day on Sunday.
Adirondack Sports Summer Expo Returning To Saratoga
The annual Adirondack Sports Summer Expo is returning for its 19th year this weekend. It will be at the Saratoga Springs City Center on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. According to WTEN, the expo is free to attend with 200 exhibitors covering running, biking, hiking, paddling, triathlons, recreation, health, fitness, and travel.
Homeland Security Operation Reported In Ballston Spa
An operation by Homeland Security was conducted at a home in Ballston Spa on Tuesday, according to the Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office. Details are limited, but NEWS10 was on the scene around 8:30 a.m. when the operation took place. WTEN reports it occurred at a home on East North Road.
Person Dies After Being Pinned By Tree
New York State Police say one person died after being pinned to a tree in Fort Ann. WNYT reports the incident happened in the area of Copeland Pond Road at around 5:01 p.m. When officers arrived at the scene they found the person pinned under a tree. Life saving measures were done but were not enough and the person was declared dead at the scene.
Search Continues For Missing Halfmoon Man
State Police announced on Sunday their continued efforts in the search for Bilal Ashfaq of Halfmoon. Ashfaq was last seen on March 16, 2022. According to WTEN, Ashfaq, who was 21 years old at the time of his disappearance, is described as 6’2″ tall and about 225 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. He was last seen around Terminal Road near the Mohawk River in Halfmoon.
SSPD Using New Video Technique To Recruit Officers
The Saratoga Springs Police Department is hoping to recruit new police officers using a new video technique for social media. WTEN reports Lieutenant Paul Veitch said within the last 10 years, he’s noticed there have been a significantly smaller number of people interested in becoming police officers and taking the test.
Ballston Lake Man Facing 12 Year Sentence In Burglary Spree
A Ballston Lake man is facing up to 12 years in prison for committing a series of burglaries in Saratoga County last summer. According to WNYT, 33 year old Shaun A. Sheriff pleaded guilty in Saratoga County Court on Monday to burglary. Sheriff was arrested in June 2024 after police said he broke into a home in the town of Clifton Park to steal property.
Gansevoort Man Arrested Following Sex Assault Complaint
The Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office says they arrested Stephen E. Bottino, 58, of Gansevoort, following a sexual assault complaint that officials received last Tuesday. WNYT reports the Sheriff’s Office says the complaint was referring to an incident that reportedly occurred in Clifton Park in 2003. Bottino is accused of subjecting a person younger than 11-years-old to sexual contact.
Stewart’s Shops Donates $1.7 Million To Kids’ Non Profits
Stewart’s Shops has donated more than $1 million to nonprofit children’s programs as a result of its 2024 Holiday Match fundraiser, the company announced on Thursday. Checks were mailed out to 1,765 organizations cross upstate New York and western Vermont. Stewart’s customers donated more than $850,000 to support youth health, education, recreation and arts activities. Stewart’s doubled the donations.
