48 year old Amy M. Schweiger of Milton was arrested by the Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office for grand larceny and petit larceny on July 24. WNYTreports the Sheriff’s Office says she is accused of stealing a bag belonging to another person that had a credit card, among other items inside at the McDonald’s at 201 Church Avenue in Ballston on July 23.

One person is dead folllowing a Saturday house fire in Ballston Spa. The call came in just after 5pm for the blaze at 809 Greenwood Drive. The name of the victim hasn’t been released, nor has a cause for the fire. WNYT reports the house is condemned.

The Saratoga City Tavern — a staple of the nightlife scene on Caroline Street — is up for sale. The Daily Gazette reports the five-story, 7,770-square-foot structure is located at 19-21 Caroline St. and listed at $4.9 million by commercial agents Cindy Hollowood and Anne O’Toole of Roohan Realty.

An arrest warrant was issued for Dakota Smith Thursday morning, July 25 after he was a no show in Saratoga County Court. Smith was supposed to appear on grand larceny charges. According to WNYT, Smith is facing similar charges in other Capital Region communities. On Tuesday, July 23, Smith pleaded guilty in Greene County to taking more than $70k from people for contracting jobs and not doing the work.

A Tornado touched down in Broadalbin Wednesday afternoon. WNYT reports the National Weather Service said an EF – 0 tornado touched down on Route 29 just next to Carrero’s Cuts. The storm brought up to 80 mile per hour winds and knocked down trees in neighbor’s yards. No injuries reported.

Three hundred authentic Saratoga racehorse shoes will be hidden throughout Saratoga Springs this year as part of a popular family-friendly scavenger hunt. Now in its second year, a new hunting location was added in the hopes it will attract people to discover the Beekman Street Arts District. WTEN reports Thirty of the horseshoes were decorated by local artists this year.

A Petersburgh man was found guilty of killing his ex-girlfriend and leaving her body in the woods back in 2022.

Dontie Mitchell allegedly had forcible sexual contact with a victim between Nov. 26, 2021, and Feb. 1, 2022. He was arraigned Wednesday and sent back to Albany County Jail. He is due back in court on Aug. 23.

The Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office reported the arrest of a Clifton Park man following an extensive investigation. Jared Brockbank, 33, of Clifton Park, faces multiple drug-related charges. WTEN reports Brockbank is accused of possessing and selling illegal narcotics throughout Saratoga County. He was taken into custody on July 17th.
