Thursday storm did devastating damage to Malta and surrouonding areas
People in Malta and nearby areas are busy cleaning up from violent storms that came through on Thursday. The storms affected only a small part of the Capital Region, while other areas barely saw any rain at all. A large pine tree damaged the roof of a house on Sand Spurrey Road that home is now unlivable. No injuries were reported.
Schenectady man leaps to death after alledgedly murdering his parents
The New York State Police said the man who jumped to his death on 787 Thursday is a suspect in the killings of his parents in Schenectady..Police responded after receiving a report of a man threatening to jump. Jordan Miklowitz, 35, jumped after police arrived. Investigators went to the home of his parents and found David J. Miklowitz, 75, and Kathryn Miklowitz, 73, both dead from apparent blunt force trauma.
Man accused of murdering roommate scheduled to post a plea today
A man accused of murdering his roommate in January is scheduled for a possible plea today, before Judge Little at 9:30 a.m, according to the Albany County DA’s Office. Ashley Heshmat,45, of Albany, is charged with 5 counts of Murder in the Second Degree in connection with the January death of 48-year-old Justin Bishop. On Jan. 14, Albany police found Bishop dead “with multiple lacerations to his head and neck area”
Second defendant charges in murder
A second defendant has been indicted in connection with the June murder of Javon Ward in Albany. In a release from the Albany County District Attorney’s Office, the indictment was unsealed in Albany County Supreme Court Thursday morning, charging Daquan Arrington, 24,with 7 counts including one count second degree murder. Darrell Camp said Arrington pled not guilty to all charges.
Three arrested on drug charges
According to New York State Police they have arrested Carolyn M. Fox, 36, of Glens Falls, Alfred J. Hall, 42, and Jeremy M. Jock, 39, both of Gansevoort on August 4 on drug-related charges. In response to a trespassing call, Police found the three individuals in a vehicle on condemned-posted property. Further investigation found felony-weight narcotics and a glass smoking device with drug residue were in the car
Police in Capital region raise money at Dunkin for Special Olympics
If you stopped at Dunkin’ for a coffee Friday morning, you may have noticed a police presence at certain locations, but it was all for a good cause.Police across the Capital Region held events at select Dunkin’ locations to raise money for the Special Olympics. All proceeds benefit the hundreds of athletes that compete in the games.
St Peter’s Albany campus plans to reopen today
Efforts are continuing to restore service at St. Peters’ Albany Memorial campus after a burst pipe caused massive flooding in the facility on Friday.The flooding forced an emergency evacuation of all staff and patients. While the facility is still closed, they say all essential equipment is back on, including hot and cold water, HVAC systems, and more. The emergency department aims to reopen today.
Three arrested in Lola on Broadway robbery
Police said three people were arrested following an early Saturday morning burglary at Lola on Broadway. Police have identified the three men as Christopher L. Tyler 23, Mustafa Lewis-Hamilton 22, and Jowan A. Plummer,23; all from Washington D.C.. A pursuit began and two suspects and a suspect vehicle were identified. Those men are now being charged with five felonies and two misdemeanors.
Two children injured in roll over accident
The Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office reported the arrest of a Wilton man following a rollover crash on Wednesday afternoon that left two children injured. Matthew Murry Jr., 40, is facing numerous charges. On August 7 deputies responded to reports of a crash on Pettis Road. According to deputies, two children, ages 10 and seven, were riding in the truck’s bed, resulting in them being ejected from the vehicle.
