The City of Saratoga Springs has officially launched a Civilian Review Board. WRGB reports the five-member board will be made up of city residents and will investigate complaints of police misconduct. Two years in the making – the plan was approved during Tuesday night’s city council meeting.

Police Chief Discusses Gaffney’s Shut Down
Saratoga Springs Police Chief Shane Crooks says the situation with Gaffney’s had gotten to the point where police had to bring the issues to the State Liquor Authority, because not only were customers getting injured, but also police officers. WNYT quotes the chief as saying the department is grateful that the State Liquor Authority took action at this special meeting on Tuesday.
Halfmoon Man Faces DWI, Gun Charges
A Halfmoon man, 41 year old Brian Thompson, has been arrested for allegedly driving while intoxicated and having an illegally possessed gun in his vehicle. Officers stopped a vehicle on Central Avenue for several vehicle and traffic violations. Police found that the driver, Thompson, was driving while intoxicated. They also found a loaded .380 handgun in the glovebox for which Thompson had no permit.
Rally In Albany In Wake Of Roe v. Wade Court Leak
After the leak of the draft opinion signaling the U.S. Supreme Court will overturn Roe v. Wade, rallies took place across the country, including in the city of Albany. The rally at West Capitol Park was organized by Upper Hudson Planned Parenthood.
NXIVM Members In Court Tuesday
The leader of the NXIVM sex cult is hoping his conviction will be overturned. According to WNYT, attorneys for Keith Raniere and Clare Bronfman were in court Tuesday. Bronfman was also convicted for her role in the sex cult. She is trying to appeal her sentence. Raniere’s attorneys said Tuesday they didn’t get enough time to cross-examine witnesses.

The ownership at Gaffney’s plans to issue a statement today concerning the bar’s license being suspended Tuesday by the New York State Liquor Authority. WNYT reports the decision says “effective immediately, no alcohol may be sold or consumed on the premises” at Gaffney’s on Caroline Street. It comes in the wake of a stabbing outside the bar this past weekend.

Bolton Landing Man Accused Of Shooting Out Businesses’ Windows In Colonie
A Bolton Landing man is accused of driving to Colonie and shooting several businesses. According to WNYT, police believe the young man was randomly picking out storefront windows and using them as his own personal shooting gallery. The suspect is identified as 23-year-old Christopher Huck. He’s being held at the Albany County Jail. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for later this week when he will face at least 7-felony charges.
