Controlled burns will take place at Saratoga National Historical Park next month. The Daily Gazette reports weather permitting, the first burn could occur in early to mid April. The park may close roads, visitor facilities, parking areas and hiking trails temporarily during the burns. Notifications will be posted on the park’s website and via social media.
Greenfield Man Pleads Not Guilty In Drug Cases
A Greenfield man pleaded guilty in two separate cases of felony drug possession in Saratoga County Court on Wednesday. The county DA’s office said Jason Allen, 45, was arrested for drug possession last August and October. WTEN reports in August, deputies arrested Allen for fourth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance after finding him and another person sleeping in a car outside of a Providence home.
CT Man Charged In Alleged Drunk Driving Crash
A Connecticut man is accused of drunken driving and causing a crash that injured two people in Clifton Park last month. WNYT reports the crash happened on Feb. 4 in the vicinity of State Route 146 and Fire Road. Gonzalo Paredes-Moscoso, 45, of New Britain, allegedly drove with a blood alcohol concentration of more than 0.18% and was charged on Tuesday with two counts of first-degree vehicular assault.
Draft Report Looks At Truck Traffic In Saratoga
A new draft report is adding a new layer to the heavy truck traffic conversation in Saratoga Springs. It’s a conversation that’s been going on for decades: What, and if, anything should be done to address safety and environmental concerns with trucks in Saratoga neighborhoods. DEC Looks Into Possible Refrigerant Leak At Glens Falls Ice Rink
The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation is looking into a possible underground leak of refrigerant at ice rink in the Glens Falls Recreation Center on Fire Road. WTEN reports the possible leak was first noticed in January when Department of Public Works employees noticed a decline in the level of the refrigerant as displayed on gauges.
Saratoga School Board TO Vote On Diversity Resolution
The Saratoga Springs Board of Education is expected to pass a resolution on Thursday to restate its policy to insure a “safe, inclusive and high-quality education for every student.” WNYT reports the board resolution states that the board will maintain its commitment to equity, inclusive and diversity, support every students’ right to education regardless of immigration status and make sure their schools continue to be supportive environments for transgender and gender-expansive students.
Conservatives Choose Stec To Replace Stefanik
New York’s Conservative Party has officially endorsed State Sen. Dan Stec to replace Rep. Elise Stefanik in NY-21. WNYT reports the party sent its official recommendation to the district’s Republican chairs, they said, who will select the final nominee. Stec currently represents the 45th Senate District, which stretches from Glens Falls to the Canadian border.
Standoff Comes To End Monday
State Police responded to a complaint from a Halfmoon resident who reported receiving threats against their life.
WRGB reports the suspect was located at a residence on Boght Road in Colonie around 5:00 PM.
Upon arrival, the individual became uncooperative with Troopers and issued threats before barricading themselves inside the house. Following a brief standoff and negotiations, the suspect exited the home and was taken into custody.
Saratoga Man Cops Plea In Restaurant Break In
A Saratoga Springs man has pleaded guilty to charges stemming from an October 2024 burglary investigation. Authorities say 57 year old David Gregson admitted to stealing money from a restaurant in Greenfield. WTEN reports in October, troopers received reports of a burglary at the restaurant. An initial investigation determined Gregson allegedly forcibly entered the restaurant, causing damage to the building, stole money and then left the scene on foot.
