The National Weather Service says Albany hit an official high temperature of 99 degrees on Thursday. That beats the previous record of 98 degrees, set in 1955. Around the area Friday, there will be a mix of sun and clouds around with the chance for showers and storms. Some storms may once again produce heavy downpours. It won’t be as hot, but it will still be hot and very humid with highs near 90.

Woman Hurt In Saratoga Springs Apartment Fire
A woman was hurt in a Saratoga Springs apartment fire Wednesday. It happened at a residence on the sixth floor of the Stonequist Apartments. Arriving firefighters got the woman out of the apartment and she was airlifted to Albany Med with smoke inhalation and burns. No word on her identity. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
Drue Denied Parole In Deadly Northway Crash
The man responsible for the 2012 Northway crash that killed two teens and injured two others was denied parole on Wednesday. WNYT reports Dennis Drue was under the influence of drugs and alcohol when he caused the December 2012 Northway crash that killed Deanna Rivers and Christopher Stewart. Drue was sentenced to five to 15 years in prison, but went before the parole board recently, seeking release after serving about eight and a half years.
State Police Held Buckle Up Checkpoing On Old Saratoga Road
State Police partnered with the New York State Park Police to hold a Buckle Up New York checkpoint on Old Saratoga Road in the area of the Moreau State Park entrance. State Police and State Park Police issued 46 tickets during the event. 18 of the tickets issued were for a seatbelt violation and two were child restraint violations. During the event State Police took the opportunity to educate multiple families on child passenger safety and proper installation of child restraints.
Porter’s Corners Restaurant Closing
The Rocking Table at Mom & Pop’s, a fast-casual, take-out food restaurant located in Porter Corners, is closing this week. Joshua Gordon, the owner, said they don’t have the funds to make the necessary repairs to get the proper licenses. According to WTEN, the Health Department won’t issue the shop a permit until they upgrade the septic and water sanitation system. Gordon said they rent the building and these upgrades would cost $10,000 to $15,000, which they can’t afford.
Four Businesses Cited In Underage Drinking Enforcement
State Police conducted an Underaged Drinking Enforcement Detail in Saratoga County as 21 businesses were checked for compliance. Four people were charged with Unlawfully Dealing with a Child in the First degree, a class “A” misdemeanor, after selling alcohol to persons under the age of 21. Four businesses were cited;

WNYT reports the trailer that the man ran into on Route 9 was being towed by a 2014 Dodge Ram. Fortunately a responding sheriff’s deputy applied a life saving tourniquet to the man’s leg.

Lions Club Holding Camp For Kids With Visual Impairments
The Saratoga Springs Lions club is holding an active sports camp for young people who are visually impaired. According to WNYT, Camp Abilities Saratoga will be held through August 6 at Skidmore College as part of a Lions Club service project.
The campers learn sports skills they can bring back to school with them during the year that can help them participate on school teams with their classmates.
NYRA Honors First Responders At Track
First responders were honored guests at the track on Thursday as NYRA paid tribute to them. All first responders with ID’s got free grandstand admission. WRGB reports the celebration included pipe and drum performers from the New York State police, along with a display of a fire engine from the Saratoga Springs Fire Department.
