A Saratoga Springs man is facing a murder charge for allegedly killing a woman during a domestic incident. 31 year old
Sebastian Mabb allegedly got into a physical altercation with Brianna Craig inside a residence at 8C2 Vanderbilt Terrace in Saratoga Springs between 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. on Tuesday and killed her, reports WNYT. The two had a prior relationship, say police.

Train Derails Wednesday Night In Rensselaer County
A train derailed Wednesday night in the Village of Valley Falls, Rensselaer County. Authorities said there is no immediate danger to the public and no one, including two train engineers onboard, were injured. The cargo train was carrying 94 cars. Ten of them derailed, and one is in the Hoosic river. The car in the river was carrying plastic pellets. Cause of the derailment is unknown.
Skidmore Hosting Combatants For Peace Event
Skidmore College is collaborating with MLK Saratoga to host Combatants for Peace (CfP) from 7:30 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 13. The Saratogian reports the public event will provide a platform for Combatants for Peace activists to share their l stories of transformation and joint work for dignity, justice, and liberty for all. Registration is required.
Thursday Hearing On Biochar Project
The next public hearing surrounding the proposed Saratoga Biochar Solutions project is scheduled for Thursday. Company officials say they completed their application for their permit. They are now waiting to hear the next steps from the DEC, and are hoping to hear back by the first week of March. The facility would be built at the Moreau Industrial Park to process solid waste from wastewater treatment plants and turn it into fertilizer.
Prepping For Saratoga Chowderfest
The 25th annual Saratoga Chowderfest is taking place this Saturday, Feb. 10th. From 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Saratogian reports thousands are expected to flock to downtown Saratoga for the chance to sample a variety of samples from more than 80 vendors. Last year roughly 112,000 cups of chowder were sold during the event.
Bomb Threat Evacuates Saratoga Casino Hotel
On Sunday night, the Saratoga Casino Hotel was evacuated after a bomb threat, according to Saratoga Police. WTEN reports at this time there have been no arrests made and police say no bombs were found after detection canines did a sweep of the area. An investigation is ongoing in this case.
SPAC Announces Return Of Philadelphia Orchestra
Saratoga Performing Arts Center (SPAC) announced the return of The Philadelphia Orchestra to its summer home in the Spa City for a three-week residency from July 31 through Aug. 17. The season will feature a mix of masterworks from the classical canon, alongside SPAC premieres and appearances by an international slate of artists and conductors.

Saratoga County officials announced the Saratoga County Department of Health has expanded its NaloxBox Program to include a partnership with the Southern Adirondack Library System. The Saratogian reports The Southern Adirondack Library System has installed NaloxBoxes at all its members in Saratoga County providing access to lifesaving Naloxone at 12 locations.
Student Charged With Making Threat Of Mass Harm
A middle school student in Guilderland is charged with Making a Threat of Mass Harm, after a “kill list” was found on a personal device of the student’s, and shared to social media. Last week, the Guilderland Police Department received a report that a Farnsworth Middle School student had generated a list of school community members that reasonably caused a fear of serious harm. WRGB reports the student was arrested and charged with Making a Threat of Mass Harm.
Saratoga Man Gets Three Years For Drug Sales
Shayne M. Richardson, 31, of Saratoga Springs, was sentenced to three years incarceration. Richardson was reportedly found to have fentanyl when he was arrested by the Saratoga Springs Police Department’s Special Investigation Unit in July. WTEN reports Richardson pled guilty to attempted criminal sale of a controlled substance in the third degree on October 23. He will also serve three years of post-release supervision.
