Greenfield Contractor Facing Grand Larceny Counts

A Greenfield man was arrested following a scam investigation. Michael Marlett, 21, has been charged with third-degree grand larceny. WTEN reports a victim had agreed to hire Marlett, to complete a remodeling project at a home in Ballston. Police say the victim gave Marlett a deposit of $10,000 ahead of the work. Marlett allegedly failed to start the project by an agreed upon date and did not return the deposit.

Saratoga Chowderfest Winners Announced

The 25th annual Saratoga Chowderfest was held on Saturday, February 10. The festival had 85 vendors with 10 first-time participants, 116,383 bowls of chowder served, and over 40,000 event attendees. People’s Choice Awards went to Bentley’s Tavern, Ribbon Cafe, The Mill on Round Lake, Kindred, Clancy’s Tavern, Rhea, West Ave Pizza and Druthers Brewing Company.

Gansevoort Man Killed In Wilton Crash

Saratoga County Sheriff’s responded to a car accident on Waller Road in the Town of Wilton on Saturday. According to WNYT, 60 year old Keith Hedge of Gansevoor was pronounced dead on the scene, said Sheriff’s of the wreck. He failed to drive around a curve in the roadway. The vehicle left the roadway and struck a tree.

Saratoga Springs Police Warn Of Scams

Saratoga Springs Police Department (SSPD) reported that it has been seeing frequent calls reporting scams in Saratoga Springs. It asks people to use caution when receiving phone calls requesting large amounts of money. WTEN reports people over the age of 60 are generally the targets of the scams.

Man Cuffed After Foot Chase That Put Elementary School On Lockdown

An Oneida County man was arrested on Tuesday after a brief foot chase that put a Clifton Park elementary school into lockout. The man, 20-year-old Correll Robinson-Lewis, had a warrant from the city of Utica for a probation violation on a felony charge. He was released on appearance tickets and due in Clifton Park Town Court on a later date.

Saratoga Woman May Have Died From Asphyxiation

The Saratoga Springs woman who police say was killed by a former intimate partner may have died from asphyxiation, according to WNYT. Brianna Craig was killed on Tuesday at her home at Vanderbilt Terrace. A candlelight vigil will be held on Friday 6 p.m. at the apartment complex. Sebastian Mabb, 31, has been charged with second-degree murder.

Report: Albany County DA Under Investigation Over Bonuses

Albany County District Attorney David Soares is under investigation, accused of giving himself a hefty bonus from a state grant, reports WNYT. The Albany County Comptroller has reached out to the Attorney General’s Office and the state comptroller to investigate Soares. In a statement, Soares said that his office was able to use grant funds to fill nine vacant assistant attorney positions and improve the morale of team members.

Saratoga County Providing Lifeguard Training

Saratoga County is hoping to combat the ongoing lifeguard shortage by offering free training. WNYT reports the County Department of Aging and Youth Services has sponsorships available for teenagers, 15 to 17 years old, who would like to become lifeguards. If you’re interested, you must do a prerequisite swim at the YMCA. Applications are due by March 1st.
