After more than a decade of appeals for earlier bar closing hours from Saratoga Springs officials, Saratoga County supervisors voted to consider legislation to require bars to close at earlier hours depending on the time of year. ‘Sham-Rock-The-Block’ Extended In Lake George

Five Fall Ill After Eating Food At BOCES Location

Five people fell ill after eating food preparing in a culinary class at the Washington-Saratoga-Warren-Hamilton-Essex BOCES location on Henning Road Thursday morning. The Daily Gazette reports two people were transported to Saratoga Hospital and three others were treated at the scene by the Saratoga Springs Fire Department. An investigation is underway.

Ballston Spa Woman Warns Of Drug’s Dangers After Son’s Death

A mother in Ballston Spa is spreading awareness about the dangers of a drug called Kratom, after her son died from consuming it. Cari Scribner lost her 27-year-old son Nickolas in November to something she said many parents haven’t heard of — kratom. Kratom is a plant from southeast Asia. It can come in pills, teas and even seltzers that can all be bought in your local gas station stores or online. Scribner’s son Nickolas was using kratom for years to help with his insomnia.

Woman Charged With Assaulting Saratoga Hospital Staff Members

A Burnt Hills woman was arrested after she allegedly hit two staff members at Saratoga Hospital. The incident took place shortly after 3 a.m. on Wednesday. WTEN reports 18 year old Isabelle Singley was charged with two accounts of assault in the second degree. The two staff members were physically injured during the alleged assault.

Corinth Man Facing Arson Counts

A Corinth man is charged with arson. WNYT reports 34 year old Louis M. Hart is accused of intentionally starting a fire at a building on Antone Mountain Road in the town of Corinth. Hart knew that another person was inside. Hart was charged with arson and criminal mischief. He was arraigned in Corinth Town Court and sent to Saratoga County Jail.

Glens Falls Receives Home Rehab Grant

The City of Glens Falls is launching an expanded home rehabilitation program thanks to a grant from New York State’s Division of Homes and Community Renewal. The Post Star reports the goal of the City’s $515,000 Housing Rehabilitation Program, funded through a competitive New York State grant process, is designed to support rehabilitation of the homes of low-income and moderate-income residents to make the home safe and code compliant.

Yellow Ribbon Day Donation Drive

2025 marks the eighth year that the annual Yellow Ribbon Day Donation Drive has collected items for care packages to be sent to deployed service members. From March 15 through April 7, individually sized snacks and personal care items are collected for Freedom Boxes.
