WNYT reports city officials are looking to regulate them and add fees based on how many times landlords rent their property. Summer Camps On Saratoga Lake
Registration is now open for summer camps at Kayak Shak on Saratoga Lake. According to WNYT, children have the opportunity to enjoy recreational activities like kayaking and paddleboarding while participating in team building activities, swimming and playing with friends. Spots are currently available in all four camp sessions scheduled for July and August.
Free Concert Kicks Off Belmont Buzz In Saratoga
A free concert was held Wednesday evening in Saratoga Springs to kick off Belmont weekend. WNYT reports thousands of people showed up for the event. The lineup included Tops of Trees, The Pat McGee band, and the headliner, Blues Traveler.
New Track Amenities Unveiled
New amenities at the Saratoga Racetrack were on full display Tuesday ahead of the Belmont Stakes and the Jim Dandy bar has a new look this year. WRGB reports the new bar and renovated lower clubhouse now offer more viewing opportunities of the track for spectators. The bar was brought out of an enclosed location and new high-definition tv’s and betting stations have been installed.
Malta Man Arrested For Allegedly Having Fake License Plate
A Malta man has been arrested for allegedly having a forged license plate. According to WNYT, 61 year old Kenneth J. Rossen was stopped on the Northway in Clifton Park on May 28 just before 1:30 a.m. for not having a plate lamp and failure to signal a lane change. He had a fake temporary license plate on his vehicle and was operating with a suspended registration and suspended license for not answering a summons or paying a fine.
Northway Lanes Reopened After Tuesday Sand Mishap
If you ran into this Tuesday morning, this morning all is back to normal as northbound lanes of the Northway between Exit 10 and Exit 11 are reopened after an early morning crash that spilled sand and tied up traffic. WNYT reports the crash happened around 8:20 a.m. Tuesday, according to New York State Police. Travel was reduced to one lane for many hours to clean up the sand and remove the commercial vehicle that rolled over.
Belmont Stakes, Activities Come To Saratoga
Belmont Stakes activities kick off Wednesday in Saratoga with the Belmont on Broadway event, featuring a concert by Blues Traveler. Streets will be shut down. WNYT report the event then shifts to Saratoga Race Course, where Police Chief Tyler McIntosh said all the law enforcement partners as well as fire officials, EMS services, cybersecurity and other nongovernmental organizations came together for a training.
Field Drawn For Belmont Stakes
The 10-horse field has been sent for the 2024 Belmont Stakes being held at Saratoga Race Course. The post-position draw was held at Universal Preservation Hall on Monday. WTEN reports the field includes winners of the Kentucky Derby and Preakness as well as a horse of Mechanicville trainer Chad Brown.
Woman Charged With $50K Theft From Saratoga County Apartment Complex
A woman is accused of stealing over $50,000 from the apartment complex where she worked in Saratoga County. According to WNYT, 47 year old Jacqueline Shafe allegedly stole the money from August 2021 through April 2022. She’s charged with grand larceny and making a false written statement.
Developers Eyeing Malta Race Track For Residential Project
The modified stock cars that have been racing around the dirt track at Albany-Saratoga Speedway in Malta for six decades have finally reached the finish line. WNYT reports the 50-acre property just off Route 9, where drivers have been priming their engines since the 1960s, is now seen as prime real estate by the Five Quarters Development Group. They want to convert the land into a multi-use mecca for retail and residential purposes.
