A Saratoga Springs man was sentenced to 5 years of probation on Monday for leading police on a high-speed chase last July. WNYT reports State Police tried to stop Carmen J. Daniele, 44, in Troy because he was wanted on a shoplifting charge. Daniele led troopers on a chase through Waterford, Halfmoon and Clifton Park.
He pleaded guilty in February to first-degree reckless endangerment.

National Grid Proposing Rate Hike
If you are a National Grid customer, you could soon see your bill begin a climb that could eventually cost you $50 more a month. WRGB reports the utility company has requested new electricity and gas rates for upstate New York customers that would be phased in over three years. It’s now up to the Public Service Commission to decide.
Ground Broken On New Saratoga Bike Park
The city of Saratoga Springs broke ground on the construction site of a new bike park on Monday. WTEN reports crews will now begin phase one of the construction process, which includes the build of an asphalt pump track. Funded by the city’s capital budget, the first phase will cost about $400 thousand.
Ballston Lake Cleanup Day Set For Saturday
The annual Ballston Lake Cleanup Day is set for Saturday. WNYT reports volunteers are welcome to show up at the Ballston Lake Fire Department at 8 a.m. and get their assignments. Man Found With Gun Outside Wilton Walmart Taken Into Custody
Shoppers at Walmart in Wilton were startled this weekend when they saw several police officers with their guns drawn in the parking lot. WNYT reports the Saratoga County sheriff said they got a call Saturday morning that a man from Ulster County was armed and dangerous and believed to be in the Wilton area. They tracked him to Walmart, where they found an assault-type gun in his truck. He was taken into custody.
Ballston Spa Public Library Closed Until Further Notice
The Ballston Spa Public Library has closed until further notice, the library and Ballston Spa mayor announced on Saturday. The temporary closure comes after a major flood in the facility a week ago. WTEN reports the library first announced it would be closed for a week on April 22 following flooding and extensive damage in the rear of the building and lower level bathrooms.
South Glens Falls Woman Dies From Accident Injuries
The Washington County Sheriff’s Office responded to Kingsbury Saturday afternoon for a motor vehicle accident on State Route 4 that left one person dead. WNYT reports Rhonda A. Sexton, 50, of Fort Ann was driving a GMC Sierra, when she crossed over into the oncoming lane and struck a Nissan Rogue being operated by Keri L. Pike, 48, of South Glens Falls. Pike was also taken to Glens Falls Hospital, where she passed away from her injuries.
Ballston Spa Woman Facing Drug Charges
36-year-old Maigan W. Richardson of Ballston Spa was arrested on Sunday by the Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office, after being detained by Ballston Spa Police on warrants from the Sheriff’s Office and New York State Police. WNYT reports she was allegedly found to be in possession of 360 milligrams or more of methadone and crack cocaine from a search incident coinciding with the arrest.
Clifton Park Man Arrested On Weapons, Other Charges
46 year old Shawn P. Flores of Clifton Park was arrested on Sunday by the Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office following investigation into a weapon call in Milton. Officials say they responded to the call at 885 Middle Line Road at 10:24 a.m. WNYT reports Flores is accused of having a deadly weapon, having previously been convicted of a crime, and with restraining two people.
New RV Park at Lake George
At Lake George, there’s a new seasonal RV park called Adirondack RV is opening in 2025, offering amenities and a community center for long-term campers. The Rock the Dock Music Festival on July 12th has announced its musical lineup, food vendors, and artist vendors.
