Teen Charged With DWI Stemming From Corinth Crash

Two youths were hurt and a minor charged with drunk driving after a crash in Saratoga County on Sunday.
WNYT reports it happened just before 7 a.m. on County Route 24 in the town of Corinth. The driver was traveling east on Fuller Road, when it passed a stop sign and crossed County Route 24 before ending up in an embankment. The driver had a blood alcohol concentration of 0.10% and was charged with DWI.

Festival of Young Artists Returning To SPAC

T he annual Adirondack Trust Company Festival of Young Artists will return to the Saratoga Performing Arts Center for its eighth year in June. More than 700 young dancers, musicians, singers, poets and visual artists from throughout the Capital Region are set to perform at the free community festival.

Halfmoon Man Arrested On Weapons Counts

The Troy Police Department arrested a Halfmoon man on May 2 who allegedly possessed an illegal firearm. Police said Gladstone Greenwood, 31, is facing multiple charges. Police said they found Greenwood, who was wanted by Troy detectives last week and while searching the car, law enforcement said they found a loaded handgun.

Mechanicville Business Set To Reopen After Devastating December Fire

Bill’s Card Shaq is looking forward to opening up in a new space in Mechanicville, about five months after a devastating fire destroyed their business in Waterford. WNYT reports the business is set to open on June 1st after a fire destroyed the business on Broad Street on Dec. 4. A resident on the upper floor died and a little girl on the second floor was badly burned.

$10 Million Project TO Make Route 146 In Clifton Park Safer

The New York State Department of Transportation is announcing the start of a nearly $10 million project, aimed at making Route 146 in Clifton Park safer. It focuses specifically on one stretch of that road: the intersection with Tallow Wood Drive, and Old Route 146. WNYT reports besides resurfacing the roadway, the project will install upgraded traffic signals with video detection equipment.

Glens Falls Shows Off DRI Improvements

Glens Falls leaders got to show off what $10 million in state money has done for the city. WNYT reports Mayor Bill Collins led state Comptroller Tom DiNapoli on a tour of downtown, including the renovations on State Street.
About $5 million of that funding went to the new Market Center, which the city is about to open on South Street and was once home to a rundown bar.

Parents Of Corinth 3 Year Old Charged In Her Death

The parents of a 3-year-old girl in Corinth who died in February have now been charged with criminally negligent homicide in connection with her death. WNYT reports Joycelynn Dylewski died Feb. 19, and an autopsy ruled the cause of death as complications from chronic neglect. Samantha Dylewski, 32, and Matthew Dylewski, 33, are accused of causing her death.

Saratoga Homeless Shelter Officials Say They’re Running Out Of Money

Advocates for the homeless in Saratoga Springs are sounding the alarm over what they see as an “impending public crisis”. WNYT reports people at RISE, an organization which operates Saratoga County’s only year-round, low-barrier homeless shelter say they’re about to run out of money, and they are in dire need of the city stepping up to the plate to help them out.

DOE To Launch Title IX Probe In SSCSD

The U.S. Department of Education’s (DOE) Office for Civil Rights (OCR) announced they are launching an investigation into alleged Title IX violations by the Saratoga Springs City School District (SSCSD). WTEN reports the DOE informed the school district’s superintendent Dr. Michael Patton of the decision on Tuesday.
