A student at Mechanicville High School has been selected for an honors performance at Carnegie Hall. WNYT reports Luke Brue will play saxophone in February with the Honors Band. Participation in the honors ensembles is limited to the highest-rated young performers from across the world. The director of the Mechanicville High School Band nominated Luke to the Honors Selection Board.

The Lake George Winter Carnival kickoff party happens Friday beginning at 5:30 p.m. at the Lake George Holiday Inn Resort, this year’s “Out of Hibernation” party features a first-ever comedy show. Titled “Snow Laughing Matter,” the event features the well-timed wisecracks of Baker & Mark as well as music by an acoustic musical duo playing hits from the 1960s through the 2020s.
Tentative Design For Lake George Amphitheatre To Be Unveiled
A tentative design for the new Lake George Shepard Park amphitheater’s stage features a transparent rear wall that allows a more unobstructed view of the lake than the former venue, and the amphitheater itself is to be expanded to accommodate about one-third more people. These plans are to be unveiled at a public workshop scheduled for 6 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 30 at the Fort William Henry Carriage House, according to Lake George Planning Director Dan Barusch.
Pedestrian Seriously Injured In Malta Crash
A pedestrian suffered serious injuries after being struck by a vehicle in Malta Monday evening, reports the Daily Gazette. The pedestrian was taken to Albany Medical Center by Malta-Stillwater EMS for treatment, officials said. Sheriff’s deputies responded at 6:52 p.m. to the area of Route 9 and Cherry Choke Road to a call of a personal injury motor vehicle crash.
Jason Aldean Returning To SPAC
Country music superstar Jason Aldean will return to the stage at SPAC on May 25, part of his “Full Throttle Tour.” He’ll be joined on the Broadview Stage by special guests Nate Smith, Raelynn and Deejay Silver.

Queensbury Man Charged With DWI
A Queensbury man is accused of driving while intoxicated. WNYT reports Deputies stopped a vehicle on Fox Hollow Lane in the town of Queensbury around 12:04 a.m. The driver, 40-year-old Christopher A. Dore, was charged with DWI, which was upgraded to a felony because he has a previous DWI conviction within the last 10 years.

Person Hit By Car Monday Evening In Saratoga
The investigation continues after a person was hit by a car in Saratoga Springs. WNYT reports the accident happened Monday evening on Route 9 near Rxit 13. The person was taken to Albany Medical Center with serious injuries. No word on whether the driver stayed at the scene, nor if any charges are pending.
