Correction Officer Found Guilty In Domestic Violence Case

A correction officer at Warren County Jail was found guilty on Tuesday for numerous incidents of domestic violence against his ex-wife at their Moreau home. WNYT reports 47 year old Stephen A. Frank was found guilty of physically abusing the victim, which prosecutors said often occurred in front of their two children.

FoxRun Apartments Fire Deemed Accidental

The investigation into that Christmas morning fire at FoxRun Apartments has wrapped up. The fire investigator found the fire was caused by water that leaked into an electrical panel and it was determined to be accidental. WRGB reports 32 people were displaced from their homes early Christmas morning.

Saratoga Biochar Pulls Plans For Moreau Facility

Saratoga Biochar is abandoning its plan to bring a solid waste management facility to the town of Moreau.
In a statement to NEWS10, the Biochar CEO said they decided to withdraw from the project in order to find a “more suitable” political and economic environment for it.”

Police have released more information about a standoff in Warrensburg Tuesday, which ended with a man dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. WNYT reports the Warren County Sheriff’s Office says the incident began when a man was arguing with a woman inside the home. The fight escalated and the man threatened to shoot her and himself. The situation evolved into a standoff in which police say the suspect took his own life.

Police Say Arson Suspect Found Under Table In Home

Police said they have found a suspect in connection with a Whitehall arson hiding under the table at a home.
Garrett T. Bard, 30, is accused of setting a fire on Nov. that destroyed a house at 28 Mountain St. and caused extensive damage to a neighboring house and property. Deputies continued to follow up on leads, which led them to a residence on William Streets Tuesday where he was located.

Shen Retires Huerter’s Jersey

Until Tuesday night, Kevin Huerter hadn’t been in the Shenendehowa High School gym since the day he was drafted by the NBA Atlanta Hawks in 2018. The Daily Gazette reports Shenendehowa retired the 26-year-old’s No. 3 basketball jersey during a ceremony between girls’ and boys’ varsity games against Shaker, making Huerter the second player so honored by the program, after Greg Koubek’s No. 50.

Ballston Spa Man Indicted On Drug Counts

49-year-old Jason Brundige of Ballston Spa, has been indicted on charges of distributing and possessing cocaine with intent to distribute, as well as possessing a firearm as a felon and using a firearm in furtherance of drug trafficking. WRGB reports the indictment says that Brundige, a previously convicted felon, distributed cocaine from his Saratoga County residence on June 28 and July 2, 2024. During one of these transactions, he reportedly possessed a firearm.

Unofficial Results Of DPW Commissioner Race In Saratoga

The unofficial results were released Tuesday night in a very tight margin. According to Saratoga Springs Elections Commissioner Joseph Suhrada, Republican Chuck Marshall lost by a margin of just 38 votes to write-in votes. WRGB reports voters in Saratoga Springs headed to the polls to elect the city’s next Public Works Commissioner.

Local Homeless Population Doubles, Say Latest Estimates

Warren, Washington, Hamilton and Saratoga Counties have more than doubled their homeless population from 2022 to 2024 according to the State Comptroller’s office . That’s more than 500 people without a basic need.
Area shelters tell WTEN that the numbers have jumped so high on paper because the way people are counted has improved.

Wilton Woman Accused Of Stealing From Walmart

A Wilton woman is accused of stealing from Walmart. According to WNYT, Deputies responded to the Wilton in Walmart just after 7 p.m. on Sunday for a report of a theft in progress, Jennifer L. Duncan, 31, entered the store and stole merchandise. She was charged with burglary and petit larceny.
