Governor Kathy Hochul Sunday updated New Yorkers on the state’s progress combating COVID-19, saying we’re seeing the number of cases and hospitalizations continue to decline, but we are not out of the woods yet with this winter surge. She continues to encourage New Yorkers to get vaccinated and boosted and tested. More than 51,000 residents tested positive for COVID 19 on Saturday.

Saratoga Man Busted On Drug Counts In Albany
A Saratoga man is facing a slew of drug charges. WNYT reports authorities arrested 33-year-old Thomas McCall in Albany on Wednesday. Officers say they found LSD, crack cocaine, fentanyl, crystal meth and ecstasy pills on him. He was sent to the Albany County Jail.
Missing Man Found Dead In Ranger Search
A man was found dead in the Town of Charlton after the Saratoga County Sheriff’s Department requested help from Forest Rangers in a search for a 33-year-old missing for approximately 24 hours. Two Forest Rangers searched the woods with negative results. The next morning Forest Rangers were joined by members of the Saratoga County Sheriff’s Department, and others. That afternoon, a Forest Ranger-led crew found the subject’s body. Responders packaged the body in a wheeled litter and turned him over to the coroner. The Sheriff’s Department is the lead agency for the investigation and does not suspect foul play.
‘Preserve The Porch’ A Big Success
The Saratoga County History Center’s “Preserve the Porch!” was a rousing success.
In November and December of 2021, the campaign yielded an impressive $20,720.00.
Moreover, an anonymous donor graciously agreed to match funds up to $10,000.00, making the
total amount raised $30,720.00.
The funds will go directly to replacing storm windows and repairing Brookside Museum’s iconic
front porch.
Police: Drunk Man Got Car Stuck On Train Tracks In Halfmoon
Police say a drunk Schenectady driver got his car stuck at a railroad crossing in Halfmoon Sunday morning and it was soon hit by a passing train. The Daily Gazette reports no injuries from the 5:45am incident Sunday morning on Tabor Road. 36 year old Kevin McGinn, the driver, was intoxicated, say police, as well as driving without a required interlock device.
Saratoga County Expanding ‘Test To Stay’
Saratoga County is expanding its “Test to Stay” (TTS) protocol to school districts countywide to allow more students to remain in the classroom during COVID-19. WRGB reports it’s a test-based protocol protocol program for students from preK-12 who have been exposed to COVID-19 in school or on a school bus that allows them attend classes in person rather than quarantine at home. Many school districts in Saratoga County will begin offering the program this week.
Police Look For Clues In July Caroline Street Attack
Saratoga Springs police are looking for the public’s help identifying two people stemming from an assault that happened on Caroline Street on July 25, 2021. WRGB reporots at about 2:30 Saturday morning, officers on Caroline Street encountered a 28 year-old male who had sustained stab wounds to his torso. The man had just walked out of Gaffney’s on Caroline Street and self-reported to officers that he had been stabbed while inside the bar.

Saratoga’s Chowderfest Postponed Due To COVID
Chowderfest in Saratoga Springs has been re-scheduled due to a surge in COVID cases. WNYT reports it was planned for January 29 through February 5th, but will now take place from March 19 through March 26. You can buy chowder from local restaurants throughout the week and vote for your favorite.
