The Saratoga New Year’s Fest finally made its return after a 2-year hiatus and people came to spend time with friends and family. WNYT reports the event also featured over 30 musical acts. The Saratoga County Chamber of Commerce said they expected more than 8,000 people to attend. The Saratoga New Year’s Fest continued on Sunday with the First Day 5k race .

The City of Saratoga Springs has a water main break on Excelsior Ave. A boil water advisory is now in effect. Residents may experience changes in water pressure while repairs are being made. Woman Draws Prison Sentence In Attempted Assault In Galway
A woman has pleaded guilty in Saratoga County Court after an attempted assault in the town of Galway. 31 year old Cassandra Morsellino was sentenced to six and a half years in state prison, reports WNYT. Morsellino entered the victim’s home on Jersey Hill Road to steal from them. Morsellino was known to the victim.
Mechanicville Non Profit Getting Beds To Kids Who Need Them
A non-profit in Mechanicville is doing what they can to help kids in need. WNYT reports Sleep in Heavenly Peace just delivered their 1,000th bed this week. A team of volunteers builds the new beds by hand. They’ve built and delivered beds to children across the Capital Region since 2018 to kids ages 3-17 who don’t have their own bed.
Milton Woman Charged In Home Alone Case
A Milton woman is facing child endangerment charges after allegedly leaving three children under the age of 12 alone for hours.
WNYT reports one of Charlene Sheey’s children called police last Friday saying that their mom was missing, at which point troopers found three children who had been home alone for hours. When Sheehy returned, they arrested her for DWI.
Man Admits To Raping Girl In Saratoga County
The owner of a mixed martial arts studio in Saratoga County pleaded guilty to attempted rape. WNYT reports 51 year old
Jonathan Aronson was accused of raping an 11-year-old girl on New Year’s Day in the town of Greenfield. The sheriff’s office said Aronson gave the girl alcohol and marijuana before assaulting her. He is scheduled to be sentenced on February 17.
Tree Service Worker Dies In Fall In Wilton
A tree service worker in Wilton has died after falling on the job. WNYT reports it happened on Mt. McGregor Road around 9 a.m. Wednesday. The 57 year old man from the town of Providence, fell about 30 feet to the ground while working on the tree. He was pronounced dead at the scene. No word on his identity.
No Christmas Tree Disposal In The Town Of Ballston
The Town of Ballston stated on its Facebook page that it will not be hiring a company to dispose of residents’ Christmas trees this season. Residents themselves will have to contact their waste company to get rid of their Christmas trees. WTEN reports the town says the Outlet Road Brush Facility is closed for the winter, and not plowed.
Cohoes City Councilman Facing Forcible Touching Counts
A Cohoes city councilman is facing forcible touching charges. WNYT reports Donald Russell pleaded not guilty and was released on his own recognizance and has been ordered not to have contact with the alleged victim. Russell represents the Second Ward in Cohoes.
Stewarts Holiday Match Fundraiser Update
The 36th annual Stewarts Holiday Match fundraiser reached a new milestone this year, raising over one million dollars in donations. The Holiday Match, in which Stewarts matches the funds raised, provides funding for Capital Region non-profits focused on helping youth. WRGB reports it’s the third time in Holiday Match history they’ve surpassed the one-million-dollar mark.
