Two Arrested In Raid Of NYRA Dorm In Saratoga

A police raid of an NYRA dorm residence on Thursday allegedly presented possession of 200 grams of cocaine. The culmination of the investigation resulted in the arrest of two men. According to Saratoga Springs Police, 59 year old
Jose Hidalgo and 36 year old Guadalupe Montesdecoa-Aguila were employees of NYRA. Police say the two men are held without bail until future court hearings.

Woman Dies In Hit And Run Crash In Clifton Park

A woman is dead after she was hit by a car in Clifton Park that sped away from the crash. WNYT reports 64-year-old Michele Heffern of Clifton Park was pronounced dead at the scene following the accidnt on Vischer Ferry Road in the Town of Clifton Park around 2:00 p.m. As of Thursday night, law enforcement was still looking for a white man believed to be around 50 to 60 years old, driving a green Dodge pickup southbound on Vischer Ferry. They say the front end passenger’s side will have damage.

Horse Trainer Arrested In Saratoga For Domestic Violence

A prominent horse trainer whose Early Voting won this year’s Preakness Stakes is facing a domestic violence charge for allegedly pushing a woman down a flight of stairs and trying to choke her, authorities said Thursday. Chad Brown, 43, was arraigned Thursday morning in Saratoga Springs on a charge of obstruction of breathing, a misdemeanor.

Saratoga Springs adds more art to the Beekman Street district. The newest offering is The Cottage of Art & Design. WRGB reports in the words of those who’s art will fill it, it’s a collective that showcases the work of six local creatives and features jewelry, fiber art, pottery, art quilts, tiles, mosaics, and paintings. Now each Friday through September, the Cottage will be hosting “meet the artist” events from 5 to 7pm.

Amazon Workers In Schodack Look To Unionize

Union campaign organizers at the Amazon facility in Schodack officially filed Wednesday with the National Labor Relations Board to hold a union election. According to WNTY, organizers from the facility, known as ALB1, have been working on the effort for months despite Amazon saying it doesn’t want that to happen.

Frontier Pausing Service From Albany International In October

The failed merger between Frontier and Spirit airlines is having local consequences. Frontier will be putting a pause on flights out of Albany International Airport effective Oct. 4. Frontier has three main destinations from Albany, but Raleigh-Durham will be the only destination that is lost. On Monday, Frontier says they will give refunds or travel credits to customers who have booked a flight that will be cancelled.

Luft Named New Principal At Joseph Henry Elementary

Galway Central School District Superintendent Dr. Brita Donovan announced that Nicole Luft was appointed as the new principal for Joseph Henry Elementary School at its regular Board of Education meeting on Aug. 4. Luft will begin her new role on Thursday, Aug. 18th. The Saratogian reports Luft most recently served as principal of St. Mary’s Institute in Amsterdam since 2018.

Missing Woman With Dementia Found Safe

76 year old Marian Zdeb, who was being looked for by the Saratoga County Sheriff’s office has been found safe. WRGB reports she suffers from dementia and there were concerns she may need medical attention. She had last been seen at the intersection of Routes 236 and 146 in the town of Halfmoon, Saratoga County at 5:30 PM on Thursday. No word on where she was found.
