A Saratoga Springs man was charged with rape on Tuesday. According to state police, years ago, Authoritieis say 44 year old Jason Storms sexually assaulted someone under the age of 15. Police said that suspicious internet activity triggered their investigation. Armed with a search warrant, state police searched Storms’ home around 7:41 p.m. Police said that their investigation identified a minor who he’d sexually assaulted in Colonie years before.

Druthers Officially In Business In Clifton Park
Druthers officially opened its new location in Clifton Park on Wednesday. The company broke ground in November with the hopes of opening in August but faced delays due to construction and getting a liquor license. WTEN reports Druthers has three other locations in Albany, Schenectady and Saratoga Springs. The Clifton Park location is at the corner of Maxwell and Southside Drive.
Tonko Announces Grant For ‘Our Own Voices’
Rep. Paul D. Tonko announces that In Our Own Voices (IOOV) has been awarded a grant of $600,000 to help victims of domestic violence, specifically targeting underserved populations in the Capital Region. The Saratogian reports the award was granted through the Department of Justice’s (DOJ) Office on Violence Against Women. Rep. Tonko submitted a letter to DOJ earlier this year requesting this funding for the organization.

Updated Security Measures In The Mechanicsville City School District
The Mechanicsville City School District has some updated safety and security measures. WTEN reports visitors are cleared by the front office before entry with a camera system. Staff ensure doors are not propped open, and various doors are also equipped with alarms. Also, students aren’t allowed to wear hoods on their heads, and they can’t carry their backpacks between classes.
New Principal At Ballston Spa High School
There’s a new principal at Ballston Spa High School. Richard Murphy is now the interim high school principal for this school year. WNYT reports Murphy was the principal at Shaker High School in the North Colonie School District for 15 years before retiring in 2021. He takes Dr. Gianleo Duca’s place at Ballston Spa. Duca became the new interim superintendent.

Saratoga Economic Development Corporation (SEDC) President Dennis Brobston will leave the non-profit company at the end of the year, ending an almost 15-year tenure that brought transformative projects to both Saratoga County and the Capital Region. According to the Saratogian, Brobston will take some time off early in 2023 to consider his next endeavor.
Saratoga Hosts Giant Pumpkin Fest
The first weekend of fall welcomed in the kick-off to a hugely popular annual event in Saratoga. WNYT reports huge gourds were brought in for the 8th Annual Giant Pumpkin Fest. Organizers call it a kickoff to the fall season, and a way to celebrate local and regional growers. The pumpkin that took home the title for heaviest weighed in at 2,006 lbs.
Dad, Daughter Charged With Stealing From Malta Business
State Police of Saratoga arrested Cassandra D. Felice, 31, Greenfield, NY, for Grand Larceny and Robert J. Felice Jr, 53, of South Glens Falls, NY For Conspiracy. On September 15, 2022, at about 4:54 p.m., Troopers received a complaint from a Malta business that an item valued at over $1,300 had been stolen from the store the previous day. An investigation determined C. Felice stole the item from the store with the assistance of her father.
