Broadway’s Audra McDonald, who stars in HBO’s “The Gilded Age,” is coming to Saratoga Springs on August 10. WTEN reports the set list is slated to include favorites from Rodgber and Hammerstein, George Gershwin, and Stephen Sondheim. Tickets for the show, where doors open at 7:30 p.m., go onsale to the public on Thursday, February 23.

Saratoga Conference Aimed At School Safety
Keeping kids safe while at school is the goal of a conference in Saratoga Springs this week. WNYT reports it’s put on by the Committee for Policing and Safeguarding Schools. Police from all over the state are gathering to learn best practices for preventing and responding to school shootings.
Man Charged With Stealing $500K From Dead Person
A Colonie man is charged with felony grand larceny, accused of stealing from an estate while acting as the attorney for that estate. WRGB reports State Police arrested 55 year old Roy K Nestler of Colonie, charging him with Grand Larceny.
An investigation determined Nestler stole in excess of $500,000 from the estate of a deceased person while acting as the attorney for that estate. Nestler was arraigned in the Town of Colonie Court and released on his own recognizance. The case has been waived to the Albany County Court.
Greenfield Man Sentenced On Rape Counts
A Greenfield man was sentenced for an attempted rape charge in Saratoga County Court on Friday, February 17. Jonathan M. Aronson, 52, will serve 3.5 years incarcerated followed up by 15 years on parole. WTEN reports Aronson was arrested after a year-long investigation on Jan. 5, 2022. Prosecutors said he drugged and molested an 11-year-old girl on New Year’s Day, 2021.

More Talk On Homeless Shelter In Saratoga
The conversations around a homeless shelter in Saratoga Springs continue. Mayor Ron Kim spoke to parents at Saratoga Central Catholic School on Thursday. According to WTEN, The mayor is trying to determine where the best location for a homeless shelter would be .The mayor said the deadline for the homeless task force is July 6.
State Parks Numbers Released
Governor Kathy Hochul today announced annual attendance at state parks, historic sites, campgrounds and trails operated by the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation saw a record 79.5 million visits in 2022. Saratoga Spa State Park saw 3.5 million visits.
Greenfield Woman Sentenced In Deadly Crash
Ashley Donovan of Greenfield has been sentenced for her role in a fatal car crash in October 2021. Donovan pleaded guilty to Criminally Negligent Homicide and was sentenced to 90 days of local incarceration with five years of probation. Prosecutors said Donovan was driving 91 miles per hour on Route 9N in Greenfield when she crashed into another car at the intersection of Lanie Drive. Donovan had three children in the car, all injured in the crash. The other driver, Diane Welch, died from injuries.
Big Bass Pro Shops And Cabela’s Store Coming To Clifton Park
A 70,000 square foot Bass Pro Shops and Cabela’s is coming to Clifton Park. According to WNYT, it will be located at 400 Clifton Park Center Road, which used to be Northstar Chevrolet. It will be its first location in the Capital Region and fourth location in New York state and the store is expected to create about 115 jobs. It’s expected to open in 2024.
Norlite Comes To Terms With AG On Dust Emissions
Norlite has reached an agreement with the New York State Attorney General’s Office. WNYT reports the company will implement a comprehensive dust emissions program for the facility in Cohoes. It includes new monitoring instrumentation, new target metrics for the facility, new reporting procedures and the development of additional operation procedures.
