A mother in Ballston Spa is spreading awareness about the dangers of a drug called Kratom, after her son died from consuming it. Cari Scribner lost her 27-year-old son Nickolas in November to something she said many parents haven’t heard of — kratom. Kratom is a plant from southeast Asia. It can come in pills, teas and even seltzers that can all be bought in your local gas station stores or online. Scribner’s son Nickolas was using kratom for years to help with his insomnia.
