Fines Increased For Passing Stopped School Buses

Drivers in New York state can now face harsher penalties for illegally passing stopped school buses. WNYT reports under a new law recently signed by Gov. Kathy Hochul, drivers can be fined up to $1,500 if they pass a stopped school bus at least three times within a three-year period. The maximum fine under the previous law was $1,000. The law takes effect Nov. 1.
