Lake George Oktoberfest Drew Close To 10,000, Say Organizers

As many as 10,000 people were drawn to the Lake George Oktoberfest street festival this last weekend, to enjoy traditional German music, food, beer, and dancing — and to browse wares of craft vendors. Sun Community News reports John Carr, founder of the local Adirondack Pub & Brewery and an organizer of the Oktoberfest for 20-plus years, said the 2024 edition of the three-day fall fest drew the largest crowds in its history.

Getting Ready For Saratoga Wing Off

The seventh annual Saratoga Wing Off, brought to you by Discover Saratoga and its sponsors, will be returning on Saturday, October 19. The competition will run from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. with $2 wing samples from the participating restaurants. WTEN reports attendees will get the chance to cast their vote for the best wing in town. A portion of the event proceeds will go toward the American Cancer Society in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Glens Falls Proposed Budget To Be Presented To Common Council

City officials in Glens Falls have announced a tentative budget of $25.5 million for next year. The city has scheduled a public hearing on Tuesday, Oct. 22, after the budget is presented at the Tuesday, Oct. 15 Common Council meeting. WNYT reports council members, staff, and Mayor Bill Collins met 17 times for budget meetings and workshops, cutting $1.5 million from the original budget draft.

Glens Falls To Hold Public Hearing On Budget

Glens Falls is holding a public hearing on October 22nd to the discuss the next budget. The spending plan is being presented to common council on Tuesday. The tentative budget totals $22.5 million. The public hearing will be at the starting part of council’s meeting next Tuesday.

Glens Falls Halloween Event To Return

In two weeks, the annual Glens Falls Halloween festival returns. Boo2You will return on Oct. 26 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. throughout downtown Glens Falls. WTEN reports the festival will include trick-or-treating at downtown storefronts and along sidewalks, dance performances and music and even free pony rides. Adults and children are encouraged to wear a costume.

Theatre Groups Enter Partnership

Glens Falls-based Adirondack Theatre Festival has entered a a three year agreement to expand services with Proctors Collaborative. WTEN reports they’ll explore how the two can partner more significantly over the long term. The two signed a memorandum of understanding to determine how they can share both creative and administrative resources.

Saratoga Business Owner Has Paid Parking Problem

As Saratoga Springs eyes improvements to its paid parking program for next year, one city business owner is still against it and urging officials to end it altogether. According to the Daily Gazette, Saratoga Outdoors owner John Nemjo said he saw an 8% decrease in revenue following the implementation of the city’s paid parking program, which began after the Belmont Stakes Racing Festival at Saratoga in June and ended on Labor Day.

Lake George area trolley schedules change

CDTA is making seasonal changes on October 14: Glens Falls-Lake George Trolley and the Lake George-Bolton Landing Trolley service will be suspended until Spring 2025. Route #419 (Route 9/Lake George) will resume since the Lake George Summer Trolley Service is ending..Route #411 (Glen St/Walmart) Trips no longer extend to Lake George Village. Customers can use Route #419

Halloween celebration to benefit animal rescues

The annual Witch Walk & Dance returns to Saratoga Springs on Oct. 19. The event raises money to support local animal rescues. The event will be at 37 High Rock Ave in the lower-level parking garage. The Way We Were Car show is Sunday

Hundreds of classic cars and trucks are making their way to Ballston Spa for the 22 year of “The Way We Were” car show sponsored by the Ballston Spa Business & Professional Association. The show is tomorrow from 9AM to 4 PM along Front Street. In addition to the cars, there will be food, vendors, a kids’ zone. activities and live music.
