A box of bullets was found outside Saratoga Springs High School, outside the front entrance by school staff, the district said. The school entered a hold-in-place for about 40 minutes as an investigation was done. A student unknowingly and unintentionally brought the bullets on campus, and they were dropped out of a bag, police said.
A State Police trooper shot a 43-year-old Washington County man after investigators said he fled from a traffic stop and pointed a rifle at them. State Police Maj. Christopher Gilroy said the incident started at on Wednesday, when police attempted to pull over Billy Cassell III, of Kingsbury, on Route 9 in South Glens Falls. He had an active arrest warrant out of the Washington County Sheriff’s Office on a criminal contempt charge.
The Warren County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal crash that happened Thursday night on Quaker Road near Lafayette Street in Queensbury. Dylan Calabrese, 26, of Fort Edward, died from his injuries at Glens Falls Hospital. Deputies said around 9:02 p.m., a Duanesburg man was driving west on Quaker Road and tried turning left to continue south on Lafayette Street. He then collided with a 2016 Suzuki motorcycle driven by Calabrese while making the turn.
