Saratoga Springs poet laureate Joseph Bruchac was named one of 23 people to receive the Academy of American Poets’ Poet Laureate Fellowship 2023 award. The Daily Gazette reports Bruchac was named the city’s poet laureate earlier this year and is tasked with creating, reading and disseminating poetry that defines Saratoga Springs. Bruchac is a writer, musician and traditional storyteller who has authored over 180 books in various genres. He began writing poetry in the second grade.
